I recently bought a box of various unopened card packs from the 90s, most packs are from the 90-91 nhl pro set with the exception of a few donruss and Parkhurst packs. I was wondering wether they're worth more unopened or if it's worth it to break them open?

They could be worth opening, for sure. If you decide you're not interested in some of the hockey packs, or can keep the wrappers in pretty good condition, I am interested in trying to work out a deal with you.
Happy opening!

Thanks for your insight. I'm going to dig them out and see exactly what I have and go from there. I'll keep you updated as to what I decide to do with them.

I have been buying cheap, single 80s/90s packs lately because, although the cards are nearly worthless, just seeing the packs in hand reminds me of the those fun childhood days of collecting cards (and the effort put into earning money from chores to buy them). I am keeping my packs unopened because they're nostalgically valuable to me, so maybe others might find your packs just as valuable in that way.

Agreed, the Pro Set series 1 had so many error cards!! It was almost like they did it on purpose. Some of the errors are in high demand (like the #1 card in the set Ray Bourque ... they spelt his name wrong!). In series 2 they improved quite a bit but the selection of players was horrible and included cards of referee's, linesmen and head coaches. Parkhurst were ok if you like the classic/retro look. Donruss made some nice hockey cards but sometimes they'd stick together and be very difficult to separate without damaging.
I've seen the Pro Set boxes sell for $5 and they were massively over printed so those packs will never be worth much. If you keep any unopened packs keep the Parkies. Just my opinion, enjoy them no matter what you decide to do.

"Let 'er rip.... " Always fun cracking open a pack and as most have eluded to there's not a whole lot of "prizes" in those particular sets.

So far I've dug a couple out and there's 11 1990/91 pro set series 2 packs, 11 1992 o pee chee premier packs and 11 1994 donruss packs. Any of those worth keeping sealed?
