Last jumbo box at my LCS which is actually 70 miles from my house lmao. Hit my 2nd 1/1 I have ever pulled from a box/pack etc. Very excited as the other 1/1 was a patch auto and beautiful but it is of D.J. Peterson who to this point still hasn't put it together enough to crack the majors several years after being drafted. I also wanted to test out posting an image in the forums which on my end looks pretty good. Not sure what it will look like after I submit lol.

Congrats Jimmy! I own about ten 1/1's but have never pulled one myself. That's a nice looking card too.

Thanks. I have 6 1/1s. 4 bought and now 2 pulled. I was very excited because I now have every card in the base set, but this card should come close to covering the jumbo box if not more. I am a Mets fan so as talented as I think Strasburg is, he is an easy flip for me to maybe buy another box.

I actually live in Wappingers Falls now as of the last 3 years. Grew up in Brooklyn.
I work in Jersey City, so the drive home from Jersey City to Wappingers Falls takes me through Mahwah New Jersey. I go to The Baseball Card Store in midland which is right next to Mahwah. Owner's name is Dave and he is a great guy. practically throws a piece of double bubble at the door as soon as it opens. Always up to chat baseball and usually throws a few supplies in when I visit.
I googled card stores near Wappingers Falls and totally struck out. 3 stores within 30 kminutes of me turned out to have outdated website and only carried magic/pokemon and the 4th which is close carries like 3 baseball products total, charges more than any place else I have seen and has a vintage case full of cards in horrible shape marked at BV from Beckett for mint condition with zero negotiaions. Which is why 3 years later, every card that existed in that case is still sitting in that case with an over priced non-negotiable sticker on it.

Wow. I've lived in Wappingers Falls my whole life. That's 4 members now within a half hour by car. Dan (Vrooomed) is local and Colengco is as well.
I suspect I know which store you refer to. It used to be well stocked in the early-mid 2000s but isn't anymore. It used to be a weekly visit for me from 1999-06. Now I only go once a year or so, and usually only bring home boxes.
Too bad we don't have a card show around here for us all to meet up at. It was 16 years ago today we had our last local mall show, and that was in the Danbury Mall at that.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards. I have ten 1/1's. Three were traded for and and the others were bought. I had another one that I bought but later traded away to a hardcore collector for something way more valuable. Six of my 1/1's are AU's, 3 are plain printing plates and 1 is a base parallel. Of the AU'd cards, 5 are printing plates and one is an AU & 4x-MEM. You can see 5 of the 10 cards in my "My Jimmie Johnson AU's" List.
I don't have a single MLB 1/1 and only own one from NFL. The others are all NASCAR cards. Of all the boxes of any cards that I've bought over the years, it's still surprising that I haven't pulled a single 1/1 card!
I really hate how many card shops have switched from sports to gaming cards over the past decade or so. I have a shop somewhat close, but they appear to mostly deal with the Pokemon/Yu-gi-Oh/Magic stuff now. I haven't taken the time to drive down there to see what they really have b/c I feel like it would be a wasted trip. I'm never in that area for any reason, so coming home with no cards would certainly be a waste of time and money.
Congrats again on the great pull though! If I had pulled it, I'd want to do the same as you and trade it for another card or sell it to get more packs of cards.

Wow, you New Yorkers all congregate in the same general area. Of the 3 sites I'm on regularly, I know about 5 that are within a 3-hour drive! No one lives as close to me as work (which is 30 minutes away). Even that card shop I mentioned in my last post is farther away than that. How did central NC become such a blank spot for card collectors (and stores)? I'm pretty much in the middle between the Carolina Panthers/Charlotte Hornets and the Carolina Hurricanes. Also in the middle of the UNC/Duke/NC State and Wake Forest University areas. There are tons of MiLB teams in the state too, but there are barely any card shops in the entire state. No card shows happen here anymore! It takes at least 6 hours to drive westward from the ocean to get to Tennessee and a minimum of 3 hours to cross from SC to VA. As big as the state is and as huge as sports are here, I don't know what happened to the card industry around here.

thats incredible how close a few people are. I figured I was in the sticks alone lol.
As far as NC being underrepresented I wonder of timing took its toll. Of the 3 major sports franchises, only 1 was around during the 'junk wax era' to use a term I dont love but for ease of description.
