Bob, I have 100.1% of the 1979 Topps baseball set, because I have both Bump Wills cards in my set.
Yes, if there are 33 variations in a 99-card set, you will have 133% of the set if you have ALL variations. Don't "penalize" the people who only want 1 version of a variant card by telling them their "set" is incomplete.
And that has been the Beckett, Tuff Stuff, and SCD method of cataloging sets since I can remember (and like you, I've been in the hobby since before most of these started publishing).
Fill in the requests to have the variations added. Be as precise with the info for the additions as possible. Be patient, the queue has a lot in it (currently well over 200 items). But the set will remain with a total of 99 for it to be a complete set.
