I've discovered that I have what some would consider a few bad habits when it comes to card collecting despite being an avid fan of Topps baseball cards. Do any of you have any bad card collecting habits that you'd like to share?

Here's my confession:
I open most everything in the parking lot of the store.

I have trouble throwing away any of the packaging. Even if I tear it while opening a pack, every wrapper seems to get saved. I can't get myself to throw anything out, creating a mess.
I would also add, loving to open packs and begin sets, but never getting around to completing them. I always say I am going to chase the cards I need, but beginning the next set is so much fun! Plus opening packs and boxes is addicting!

Haven't we all.....
Edit: And my son is worse. If we walk out of Target/Wal-mart with something he's trying to open it while walking through the parking lot...

I have many bad habits. None of which are related to card collecting. I believe card collecting is one of the BEST habits I have.

My frind who has the card shop in south Jersey has tables and hairs in the store for people who want to break their boxes right there. The last couple times my son & I went there to get our box, we opened them there. Besides, my friend likes to know what people pull from the boxes he sells.
Real confession: We used the extra blank-backed promo cards as scratch paper at Star Co. I can't tell you how many cards I wrote on! (But, none of them could be released anyway. If anyone has ever seen any of the Star Co sheets, the promos were actually printed in the same quantities as the sets. Only 1 promo for every 5 sets was released. So, 20% of the print run was distributed, leaving the other 80% to do nothing with.)

1st confession: When I was a child and collected cards, I kept most of them in an old chlorine tablet bucket. My mom used to hose them out and give them to me for toys. I didn't have many pages to store my cards in or anything like that so only my "best" cards went into pages. I still have those cards, but the chlorine bucket was thrown away when I stopped collecting cards. I really wish I hadn't thrown them out, and I know I had some cool stuff in there like a David Ortiz RC and a Chris Bosh RC. Had I known I was going to start collecting cards again, I would have made sure to keep them all.
2nd confession: When I was like 7 years old, I stole 2 cards from my brother. They were two random cards of Kurt Rambis and Kendall Gill. I don't know why I stole them. I even had the nerve to show them to him telling him I got two new cards. He said hey, I have those cards too, and proceded to pull out his binder only to find a couple empty spaces. I don't know what I was thinking, and he told on me and I got in trouble.
Edit: I'm sure playing with toys and cards stored in old chemical buckets as a child has contributed to why I am about to turn 28 and am rapidly balding. lol
