When I try to print first class international postage on Paypal it says you have to list it as documents not a gift on the customs form. Is that something new? it keeps kicking it back. I've shipped many brown envelopes that way.

Beats me. I wanted to print a label for a package going to Canada earlier today. I can't even figure out how to get it to International shipping. Then I went to the USPS site and that was just confusing. I guess I'm going to the PO to ship my small bubble mailer.

I just sent out cards to BWBC1993 in Canada. If I had kept all the cards together in one mailer it would have been classified as a package and cost $10.00. I split them into two photo mailers to keep them from being a "package". It cost me $3.22 total.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

The USPS website is the most user unfriendly site I have ever seen. I worked in IT my whole career until retirement and their site is just plain BAD.

For me, the problem is specifics. My package basically fit into two different categories by the description on the site. I went to the PO and the lady pulled out the thickness plate. It didn't fit through the 1st slot, but did through the 2nd one. It shipped as a flat envelope over 1/4" but under 3/4". It only cost $2.50 to mail. She also explained that as long as it ships as an envelope, there is no need for a customs form. I'm going to have to pick up some of those photo mailers though. I could have shipped those cards in that for only $1.15.

I have another shipping to Canada question. I am in the middle of a trade with someone in Canada. We shipped the same day. I have received my package almost a week ago, he has not received his yet. I check the tracking, and it tells me the package I sent him is in MIAMI FLORIDA!!! WTH! I live in Arkansas!! Is this normal for shipping to Canada?

It's certainly not the most direct route if I recall my high school geography but then I can't speak for either of our respective delivery providers. Que sera, sera...

Possibly Royal Cheif as they will send it to larger sorting facilities and maybe they decided to take that route for some stupid reason. I have seen that with some eBay packages over the years.

Since you sent it as a package it has to go through the International Service Center in Miami.

I've had packages coming to me delayed for weeks at customs. I've had packages arrive quickly. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to it. I don't worry and just assume that it will eventually show up.
