Sportlots website updated
Big change is that you can have sellers mail cards to SPORTLOTS and them SPORTLOTS will mail cards to you. They will bundle all your cards together from different sellers into one package.
Some dealers are offering a discount shipping cost as they can bundle cards to sport lots with other buyers cards ( a couple I buy from offer 50% off to free.) Not sure what SPORTLOTS caost will be.

Robert “It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone. You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it stops. Today, October 2, a Sunday of rain and broken branches and leaf-clogged drains and slick streets, it stopped and summer was gone.” ― A. Bartlett Giamatti robertkimble.us/tradingcards

I like the idea in theory, but as bkim says, I'd like to wait and see what SportLots charges for their shipping. But yeah, for me, that's definitely an improvement over paying three different sellers three different shipping costs for three different cards (or however many you buy).
My thought is that this is a move to make SportLots a little more competitive with COMC. I know that when I go searching, COMC is the first place I look, and it's definitely more navigationally friendly and professional looking that SportLots. From that standpoint, I'd say this is a good move.
But hey, that's just my opinion
-------------------------------
I'll never quit collecting entirely, but I am downsizing. Check out my COMC store and help me thin out what I don't want so I can buy cards that I do want. See something you like? Send me a message on here, and we can knock the price down quite a bit. I'll even take a bit of a loss if it means getting you a card you really want.

Your opinion is shared by me. I too, go to COMC first. 99% of the time, I can get groups of cards on COMC for less that I can get them for on SL when shipping is factored in. And yes, I'm the type of person who will calculate everything down to the penny to determine which is the best deal (and have been known to buy half at one site and half at the other because it saves me $1 total).

they sent everyone an email that has an account.. biggest change being the shipping where its providing a "box" option.. ordering cards from several different people and having them to to a central location to be held for a later shipping date. guess its ok if you plan to continue to purchase over the course a month or two- then ship everything at one time

I've been to their site a few times, but never bought anything because of multiple shipping. I like this option and may check it out soon. Their prices for commons are usually better than COMC so if I could save some money, I'm all for it.

This may be the clincher to making them (Sportlots) more relevant. I've bought several times on there, despite the navagational issues. There are plenty of good deals there already, and it was especially true if you are able to find many cards from one or two sellers. I see some of the sellers are offering REALLY deep discounts on the Box shipping. They really want to move product. I do wonder what SL's shipping costs will be. That will make all the difference. If they charge a reasonable amount, this will be great for us (the buyers), better for us (the sellers), and will mean more traffic for the site.

Just keep in mind that the selling models are completely different when comparing COMC/Sportlots. Sportlots is closer to eBay than COMC. If you buy from 10 different sellers, you're going to pay 10 S/H fees, just like eBay.
The Box method is geared more for international buyers (primarily Canada), as you'd have buyers paying hundreds for shipping (buying from dozens of sellers). The US sellers will ship to one location, then one package will be sent to Canada instead of dozens, saving the buyer a lot of money.
Whether domestic buyers will use it, I don't know. It might save high volume sellers and buyers postage in the long run, but this is going to increase the time it takes for buyers to receive their cards by 1-2 weeks, and I'm just not sure if people are going to value time vs. cost. We'll see. Change is good, options are good.

I will be using at as I buy from about 10 dealers.
This year on sportlots I was able to get about half the Heritage short prints for a avg cost of about $1.50 including the shipping and handling.
I order thru out the month on both Sportlots and COMC. I can wait for COMC to when I get 100 cards or more, and now I can wait for sport lots too. But the best way is by TRADING on here. When I buy from COMC i mark card as in transit, leave a EDIT DETAIL that I bought from COMC with mm/yyyyy and I made paper slips with CARD AT COMC and Pencil card info on it and insert in box or album, in the proper spot.
