I've got well over 200 matches of cards I have to trade that other members need. Well I'm through 25 so far and not one person has anything on my wantlist. This is so aggrevating and time consuming. Is there a better way that I'm missing? Why can't this match thing be tweeked with a third category to send only matches on both parties end?

Always looking for Blackhawk hockey, Notre Dame Football, White Sox and Bears Stuff. I have a plaque in my card room that says, "I could have been a millionaire but my mom threw out my baseball cards". How apropos!!! Collecting Chicago Blackhawks Hockey, Doug Wilson Hockey, Chicago Bears Older, Notre Dame Football in their college jerseys and Chicago White Sox.

That's why I have Matches alerts shut off.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

It should be a lot easier to match up with active members where there is an actual trade possibility. With the amount of trades done through this site this is the number one thing id like to see on my wish list for Christmas and the coming year.

I very rarely look at the Match Alerts.
I choose a set or player that I am working on and check the collection summary and I go through the list of members that have some for trade. I check their site activity and to see if I have anything for them. If yes, I send a PM or a proposal. You and I have traded several times so I do the opposite, checking to see if you need what I have acquired. It is still time consuming but it works for me. The other benefit is finding active trade partners you have not dealt with.
Agreed with randylaw, there should be a way to refine the matches to active trading members.

Kari I am buying pre-1987 Non Sports. Let's discuss if you have any for sale, even if not listed here. --------------------------------------- There are no bad days.

I made a recommendation to Admin a while back addressing this issue with the Alerts being color-coded based on one-way matches (either coming or going) and two-way, and even further based on the number of matches would be coded to show that, and I was informed that they were considering it. I'm not sure if it's still on their agenda or not.

I check all the want list matches. At this time I have 21 matches BUT when I go to the report "Items on your want list that is on others sale/trade list" I get 65. I do think I understand why that happened. Out of the 65 people that have cards. I need only 10 or so appears that I may get a trade out of them. Seeing nore people with no want lists.
As far as the sale/trade list (cards I have and other need) I have over 1500 matches. I have used them time to time to see if anyone is willing to buy. Several members need 100s of my cards. It would be nice to have active members to be highlighted

I don't know how to use the match alerts thing. I tried to figure it out, but it kept showing me cards that were not even for sports I collect. I am just not grasping it.
As an aside, I just remembered seeing this post that I told you I would look for some stuff for you, Hawkking, and I totally forgot, as I didn't write it down. The memory "ain't what it used to be" as they say. I am sorry, and I will write it down this time, so I don't forget. But it will probably still be a while, probably next year...which, coincidentally, is also next week!

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards. Last week somebody with a question about a Rambo sticker set posted a link to a sticker trading website. I don't collect stickers right now, but I looked around the site, and it claims it can match you up with trade partners where both of you have something the other needs. I thought that was cool.
I'm a member of Postcrossing, where you send and receive post cards from all over the world. It's the coolest thing. You have to send first, the site gives you an address to mail a card to. When the other person gets your card, they type in a code number you wrote on the card you mailed, which tells the site you did your part, and it gives your address to the next person who is ready to send a card. Basically you are trading one for one, but you don't send and receive from the same person. I've wondered if a similar concept could work with trading cards, but could also factor in wantlists.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

I turned the match alerts off in the very beginning. I don't have time to deal with that. I can't even find enough time to get all of my cards listed b/c of all the other stuff that can be done on this site! I start with doing one thing and get side-tracked into something else. Then I make notes to get me back to where I was supposed to be when I get a chance to get back to that one. I have nearly 70 trades completed on this site and I haven't sent a single proposal (at least none that were initiated by me). I deal with trade offers as they come to me. I was getting trade proposals before I even had a wantlist. And then there are the people like our #1 trader who constantly send me proposals just b/c I added a card or 2 that was on their wantlist. I don't like that and I know exactly why he has the most trades. Nothing against the way he does it, but I like big trades. I don't like trading 2-4 cards at a time, especially when I have dozens more that will match their list but have not been added yet.
BTW, my most recent trade was with karsal. Thanks Kari! I actually got your cards on Christmas Day!!! I forgot to check the mail on Monday b/c I was so busy. I hope your cards get to you this week. She sent the proposal to me and it was a good sized trade. So I agreed to make the trade. Thanks to you other Canadian traders that I've dealt with in the past, I was able to package that quickly, efficiently and for the best possible cost for shipping.
I LOVE trading cards, but only if it makes sense for the cost. I don't do PWE's at all, so I prefer a minimum of 30+ cards each way b/c I always use bubble mailers. The number of cards can go lower if the value per card is higher though, but I always use 1st Class Parcel to ship inside the US.

NO PWE's EVER!!! PLZ PM me 1st before sending any offer. ONLY selling cards as of March 2024. No trades or purchases right now. _______________________________________________________________________ Largest total PC card collections by Team, then Athlete (as of 3/22/24): STL Cardinals (MLB) - 8810; Carolina Panthers - 2888; GB Packers - 1790+ cards Mark Martin (NASCAR) - 2038 cards; Jimmie Johnson (NASCAR) - 1875 cards; Jeff Gordon (NASCAR) - 1594; Ricky Rudd (NASCAR) - 839; Ozzie Smith (MLB) - 707
