Bob, read! I took responsibility for my mistake.

Bob I apologize if that’s what you meant. The way I read your post and took it to mean you add a set and if someone wants a trade and you don’t have it then you go back and deleate it. I don’t agree with that method. If it works for you and your trade partners awesome, but I don’t want to encourage others to do that.

If you read the threads regularly, you know who is organized and who dreams of being organized. Shortcuts lead to issues. Select your method accordingly.

Bruno, love to be organized! No question..... Just too much stuff and not enough time. Getting closer though, I can at least visualize the finale. I use what you call "shortcuts" because it works for me. I'm not recommending it to all collectors. It could at least get an overwhelmed collector started.

From all indications, the OP was looking for a way to enter his collection, not create an online store. Not sure how knowingly adding cards he doesn't own would benefit him.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Back on topic, a useful tool is the Don't Have option on the drop menu, especially if you're adding singles that aren't numerical. A lot less scrolling if you weed out all the cards you already entered.

This would be so much easier if they had a calculator pad you could open up once in a particular set. Click on a drop down menu for either collection, want or trade and just start typing numbers and hitting enter. That's what I miss most about the Card Collector Program and why i still haven't added my massive personal collection on here. It's just too daunting right now. Imagine the trade inventory we could have on here if it were easier to enter the cards. Then it wouldnt matter if the were in numerical order. Just sort into sets and off you go.

Always looking for Blackhawk hockey, Notre Dame Football, White Sox and Bears Stuff. I have a plaque in my card room that says, "I could have been a millionaire but my mom threw out my baseball cards". How apropos!!! Collecting Chicago Blackhawks Hockey, Doug Wilson Hockey, Chicago Bears Older, Notre Dame Football in their college jerseys and Chicago White Sox.

Wow, I go out golfing and celebrating my father-in-law's birthday, and this pops up. So many things to comment on.
1 - Hawkking - the site has had a lot of improvements over the years that I've been on here to aiding in the adding of inventory. I have asked for an import feature. I may have to add it to the new features voting area. However, what we have now is light years beyond what we had when I first logged on here. As sandyrusty has mentioned, it really does help to be organized BEFORE trying to enter your info here.
2 - As I have been working with another ID and adding only stuff available for sale or trade, I have found it much easier to add these as "collection" and then use the tool in the collection area to move all items in collection to For Sale/For Trade list. So, in that regard, I would recommend adding ALL of the stuff you have available first (as collection info and transfer it to FS/FT), then add your actual collection info. Then when done with that, using the tools available, it's pretty simple to create want list items.
3 - BOB - Direct quote from your original post: "I have no choice but to shortcut Joshua and Bruno's system a bit. Let's say I have a 1988 Donruss set entered, but I also have 5 monster boxes in inventory or maybe a partial set. I just add another set. Yes my numbers are skewed a bit. Yes, a trader just might want a card I've listed as a T/S item. Oops, I just politely message that the card is no longer available." Nowhere in here do you mention that you go back and delete the items that you don't have (you don't even say that you do that after a trade proposal that shows you that you don't have the card, it's simply an "oops" to you). I went back and re-read your post 3 times because I thought I missed something with how sharp you were with Joshua. So in response to your query of "Yeah, Isn't thats what I said? Add the set remove the cards." - no - that's NOT what you said at all. That's another member you owe an apology to that will probably never happen.

-- Dan -- Note: Please see my profile for more info regarding trading (section updated 3/4/2024). I have added a large portion of my inventory to the site, and currently have trading turned on (details are in my profile).

Yep. I think we all saw it Dan. Nobody else spoke up though. He apparently read Bruno's post as his own, then accused others of celebrating NYE early.
