Hi, I have been thinking about how I make offers and was wondering other's take on the topic.
There are two schools of thoughts:
1) You offer one card to one person at a time
2) You offer one card to the multiple people that need it (first come first gets it)
I personally prefer option one but then the does slow down the trades and sometimes trades fall through and you are still left with the cards so I torn between that and offering a card to multiple people that need it,

Stick to option 1.

If you want option 2 , then you need to go to eBay , not here.

I think I have transformed a bit since I started trading here a year ago. At first it was great to actually find a place to trade my doubles and I was having fun getting some new cards. As a result I was proposing and working on multiple trades all at once. There isn't anything wrong with that. After making several trades in the past year I now find I am more happy to work on trades at a slower pace. I basically prefer to work out and finish up a trade before starting another. It just works better for me as a busy Dad with a couple kids in high school and running to all their activities. I'm not advocating one way or another but sharing my perspective as a member of the community you might be trading with. I guess if you offered me a trade and then someone else jumped in and I was too late I really wouldn't care one way or the other but my changing collecting goals also don't make me hot after a card or group of cards at the moment.

It seems like there may be something my friends are interpreting that I'm not seeing. If it's a simple case of you having a card that is on multiple lists, then I see no problem whatsoever offering it to several at once, but you'd better be on the ball if one accepts and withdraw those other trades before causing yourself some problems.
I've done it, and have had to withdraw a deal, but also have had to pony up other cards to one when two accept the one card.
But, if it's a card you've offered someone and have had discussions with, then communication is key if you have others who may want it. I have told trade partners, just recently in fact, that I have cards that are included in our offer that are being asked about, or happen to be included in a proposal to me.

I try to do one trade at a time. Seems to work best for me. I would never offer a card to someone on one trade and also offer the same card to someone else on another trade. Waiting for one or the other to accept the trade first. Someone will not be happy.

Offering to multiple members in via messages and proposing multiple trades only to have to withdraw or reneg many of these are two different methods. I see no problem with the message system; I see many angry members who will not trade with you again if you reneg on the very trade you proposed.
As well, if you are proposing a trade of one card for one card, I really advise against it. Make the trade worthwhile for the shipping costs. You can send 10-15 cards in the same PWE for the same cost as 1 card. I personally don't accept 1 for 1 trades unless it is a valuable card that I will receive.

Both options has Pros and Cons. Do what you think is best for you but remmimber the Cons.
Sandyrusty I understand about making a trade worthwhile with the cost of shipping now days. My issue with that, I woulld have made only a couple of trades here. Now over 40. There are only a few members here that has any cards that I need and then only one or two cards. I know several members that do not accept 1 or 1 trades. I'm missing out on several cards here because of that.
The last 4 or 5 trades I have done. I have messaged the member stating that they have one card I need and I have a lot of cards they need. If they are willing to do a 1 for 1 deal. They can choice the card(s) they want for the card I need. It has been working. Except I lost a couple of cards (or sent them to some boby else) and had to work it out.

It would be cool if the site recognized that you had traded a card and auto-canceled other proposals involving that card. Kind of like the Topps Bunt and other digital apps do. I spent a lot of time recently looking for a card I had set aside for another trade. Not where i had offered it to two people, but two people had offered me a larger trade that both included one overlapping card, and i just didnt notice. I hadn't accepted the second yet, so it was fine, but it was just an inconvenience.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.
