I know this has been discussed before.
Just to freshen up the ideas.
PROS/ CONS of laying albums flat on a shelf
PROS/CONS of standing them up on a shelf
I use hanging albums, my fave but expensive.
Thx

The con of a flat album is obvious that you can't label them that way. But that being said a con for standing an album is that some binder/page combination will result in page sagging.

Unless you fill each binder to where the covers are exactly parallel to each other they wont sit right when you stack them on top of each other.

I stand them up on the shelf for easier access. I add sheet lifters the front and back (or just front if I have a D-Ring binder) to reduce the page sagging. Seems to be working well for me.

Most of mine are laying flat. Value cards are in hanging binders. Some sets are standing up.[need to add lifters.
Still not sure, laying alternately flat would work best but ugly, can't see all the labels
UGH !

What's the advantage of a hanging binder vs. a regular D-ring binder?

I recently purchased sheet lifters. Think I wasted my money but it was from an Amazon Gift Card so I'm not really out. I say that because I have had albums standing up for 23 years with no problems.
When discussing albums and pages I always go here: I had a Justin Verlander 2005 RC that I put directly into an Ultra Pro Platinum page and Binder upon opening in 2005. I sent that Card into PSA in 2018 and got a GEM 10.

Hanging binders have no restrictions.
NO sagging pages
NO imprinting
They are the best of the best. But to hang a lot is very expensive. Racks...Binders etc.

I put ultra pro binder in a used priority mail box cut to size of a slip case. I then shelve them like books with spine up and pages hanging.
