sippy2743 is at it again. They've listed a new batch of counterfeits. Just days after removing the previous batch. Maybe if ebay gets more reports from us concerned hobbyists they'll do something more drastic. They really goofed on one of them. They're trying to pass off the card on the left as a 1966 Topps Mantle. It's the front from the 1996 Topps "1966-style" reprint. The one on the right is a real 1966 Mantle.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

Sounds good. I filed a report saying that this "1966" card doesn't even match the images of authentic graded cards also shown on the site. They can look.

I reported him too.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Great job. It's too bad EBAY can't block those people off, but they would just use a new name and do it again.

I do appreciate the reports on counterfeiters. If younger collectors lose faith in the authenticity of vintage cards, it could hurt that sector of the hobby. I'm okay with reprints as long as they're clearly identified. There should never be a mistake as to a card's authenticity.

I was just looking through some listings on EBAY. The people selling reprint cards need to put REPRINT in the title of the item. Some slyly put it only in the description of the item, or sometimes in the condition of the item, or sometimes they just slip in an "RP" along with the saying "very collectible" and "vintage". Anyone that would bid for a beat up reprint card, that they could buy new for less than the offer, probably doesn't realise it's a reprint. A sad state of affairs.

I, however, feel completely confident that Sippy2743's ancient Roman and Greek artifacts are 100% authentic. Many museums use sippy2743 as their main supplier....
(While I find sippy2743 to be a scumbag, if you're buying unauthenticated ancient Roman artifacts on eBay, you deserve what you get just a little bit.)

I thought you were joking about the Roman artifacts, V3. You weren't!! I really don't know what to even say about his Roman listing. At least with the Greek one, he attempted to plagarize another seller's description of a legit coin from that era (like Mantle, the lion on the coin is facing the wrong way). With the Roman artifacts, it's like he just gave up. I'm surprised there isn't a beer tab in there.
