So I have this guy, which hasn't been too bad, but tonight I've been having issues with scans of cards coming out blurry.  

Maybe it's the cards themselves, IDK, but is there any reason why the images seem to come out a little smudged, like pushed them through too quickly?  And how do I fix this?

I'm not big fan of those feed thru scanners, too much chance for card damage...

The vast majority of us who scan cards use flatbed scanners for the best images. Some even go so far as to use CCD type flatbed scanners for the absolute best scans.

I agree with those guys. Flatbed scanner: Yes. Feed-thru scanner: No.

If I won't even mail my cards in a PWE, I surely wouldn't use a feed-thru scanner to scan them. I still don't go as far as a CCD scanner though, just b/c of the cost. The "feed-thru" scanner is really only good for making copies of paperwork. A flatbed can do the same thing, but it can also make those copies without even needing a computer to do it.

I prefer using a flatbed scanner. To me I seem to get the best images that way.

Are there any small and portable (as in not much of a hassle taking it from a home to an office, coffee shop, etc)  flatbed ones?  

Also any that have USB connections for transferring to a mobile device, as well as a computer/laptop?

My Canon has built-in Wi-Fi and I can connect to my phone via the Canon app.

But can I toss it in my back pack and do some scanning of cards and physical photos at a Starbucks (when we are allowed to dine in there again, of course)?
