Just an opinion question. I'll use last five years as the guide, since so many of us barely even saw what the 2020 cards looked like. For those who collect multiple sports, or at least have an awareness of the cards in sports you don't collect: Disregarding cost, availability, and "resale value", and going by visual appeal alone, which sport gets the best-looking cards?
I vote for hockey, even though they are virtually impossible to find in my area. I'm basing it on the few I have, plus some breaks I watch, and also the sell sheets for upcoming sets that Admin always links at the bottom of the home page. I really like the OPC inserts in the UD sets that have the look of an old set, but don't copy existing old designs. And I think OPC Platinum is the set that is kind of their version of Prizm, I like shiny cards with colorful parallels. They do a great job with those, and I hope I got the name right. And flagship Upper Deck always looks good. I usually manage to get a pack or two somewhere every year. I wish I was more knowledgeable of hockey cards, so I could give specific set examples off the top of my head, but I'm not, and I don't have any hockey cards in front of me. But every time a recent hockey card comes up as RCOTD, I always think it looks great.
Also, I think hockey photos just have a visual appeal to them, with the white ice in the background, that sets them apart. And of course goalie cards always look awesome. What do all of you think? Even if you just collect one sport, if you like the cards for your sport, that counts.
Edited to move a sentence into it's intended spot.
I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.
