An FYI for all members: When you find a card in a wrong checklist, DON'T simply overwrite it. Send Admin a message and they will move it to the correct checklist. That way, the Database is one MORE card closer to completion, not one LESS.
I've had to do this more than 100 times- usually from people putting parallels in as base cards, but some were my own scans I simply messed up on- and it is usually corrected within two hours or so.
Thanks.

I just move them myself. Anyone with Scan Replacement permissions can do it.
Right-click on the image and "Save Image As". No real need to change the image name since it's going to uploaded right away. Go to the correct checklist location and replace/upload the image you just saved.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

I've done it both ways. If I don't have one of the cards, I'll prompt Admin to move the scan. If 'Ive got both of them, I just upload all of the correct pictures. Sure, the member who uploaded the original scan then has credit for the wrong one, but everything else is a wash.

I don't know how I missed this thread before, but I was totally the reason for Billy posting this. And he was confused as to what I was telling him. The card wasn't listed in the wrong checklist. The checklist itself was wrong (numbers out of order). I fixed the checklist and moved the scans myself. There were many parallels of that set that were listed wrong too! I did it wrong by changing the names instead of the card numbers with the first fix. He was the only one affected by me changing the names (instead of the numbers) and I PM'd him as soon as I did it to let him know. I now know how to do it right without affecting other collectors lists. I know he was pretty PO'd by my first fix of the checklist, but after we exchanged more PM's, I knew how to deal with it better.
C2C and Tom, that's exactly what I did with the scans. I got bi***ed out for changing the names associated with the card instead of changing the card number. I didn't know that I should change the card number first. I'd only changed card numbers before to replace #'s with NNO or to add letters before the ABC list that was already in place. For the record, the cards I'm talking about are 2012 Press Pass Fanfare Autographs (racing). I did extensive work fixing those checklists. It took me several days to get all of those (and the Magnificent Materials checklists) to be completely accurate.

Actually that was a different issue. (with the same fix) This was more about the Taylor Malsam relic where I posted the parallel in the base slot by mistake. This problem has been going on since I joined the Database, with people either not knowing when a parallel is a parallel, or simply not caring. For instance there were at one point about 30 Electric Court parallels posted as base cards in the 1993-94 Upper Deck Special Edition base set.
By the way. I wasn't confused by what you were telling me, you didn't understand why it mattered the way you did it. Which, I freely admit, may be my fault for not explaining properly what I was trying to get across.

I think this comes back to another forum point - more info needs to be shown on the Base set page so that it is evident to a member who is looking as to where his card fits in, right from the start. I have been scanning all of my cards as I renenter my colelction and many times, I am unsure if I am in the right set. From experience, I have learnt to go through all of the possibles, look at other scans already entered, the inserts and related sets, to make sure i have it right. But some sets don't have any scans to be able to confirm. Missing notes such as "SNXXX" doesn't help (I add those as I go as well). etc.
We all makemistakes; if I realize one of my own, I write an apologetic message to Admin and ask for them to fix it if I can't. If I find someone else's, I fix the error if I can. I only get frustrated when it is the same member time and time again.

Hey,
3 posts...same thought...
?Why don't we have a way of describing each set, base, parallel, related...whatever, in a short description before viewing the checklist, overview etc. Kinda like some of the old price guides did.
Just a suggestion.....Is it possible?....Could be alot of work?....Could be an ongoing update?

Bob, we kind of do have that, but only for the base set. The problem is that most sets have no user comments AND many people don't scroll down to that on the Overview page. I have added a Comment for several of the football Absolute releases to explain the difference b/t hobby and retail cards, along with a few other brands/sets. It doesn't help that there are thousands of sets that have a difference b/t those two, plus there are many thousands of parallel sets that don't have a serial number or really obvious difference from the base card. If someone gets one and it's not from an original pack, they might not know that it's a parallel.

well, comments are good providing who ever has the sets fills them in. i know many ppl have been backlogging sets w/ SN's and such esp in football. its hard, no doubt. and yes, the Absolute is a pain, Beckett has a good breakdown w/ the SN's at least. i wouldn't mind seeing an extra feature field where when you enter a new CL, the last field has an Odds option to be filled in. so if you have a SP or a rare parallel or the packaging preview shows the odds for each card you can fill it in there. IE: 1:4 packs
