May I should stop buying off Ebay. Here's the link to my first post on this topic.

Now this purchase ...

I'm anticipating delivery this week, until just awhile ago I get a notification from Ebay that my purchase has been refunded. I did get a kind note from the seller saying he couldn't find the item and that he'd let me know if he does find it to see if I'm still interested. That's certainly a lot better than the previous vendor who never let me know about the situation having only found out via Ebay's personal message system - I did end up buying the item from the same vendor, and probably a better deal, but his business practice needs improvement.

Still the bottom line is that I'm frustrated with my online purchasing experience these past few weeks with Ebay.

This kind of stuff really irks me. How can you not find it, when you had it recently enough to take the photo of it and list the item. Something like this is enough to make me not want to attempt to buy from the same person a second time.

I haven't bought anything on ebay in over 3 years now (maybe). It didn't start because of the practices of sellers or ebay initially. I was saving up for a newer car and all my card money went to that fund. But I've stayed away because of how things have drastically changed there over those years. Also, I found out that NOT checking ebay on a regular basis saved me a LOT of money. Sure, I've missed out on some cards that I want for my collection. But without seeing them listed on ebay, I don't know for sure that I missed them. It's much harder emotionally knowing you lost a card due to a sniper or "investor" than never knowing the card was on there in the first place. In this specific situation, I'd have been okay with how the seller handled it, commish. In the previous one you posted, I'd have been PO'd and they would never get money from me or even have one of their items on my Watch List.

I had this same situation happen to meabout two years ago.  The dealer stated he couldn't find the item due to an reorginazation of his store.  I havent' seen this item listed with any other dealers.  A least I saved some money.

This happened to me with a card that I really wanted. Like the OP, the seller sent me a kind note saying he couldn't find it (???). However, when I expressed my disappointment that he "lost" the card and told him I really needed it for a set, he magically found the card again. To his credit, he had already refunded me, but shipped the card to me for free, which was a nice gesture. 

I can't tell if he was more afraid of bad feedback if he didn't "find" it, or if he genuinely just lost it. Either way, it worked out happily in the end, but it is still pretty sus.

I feel like it would be real easy to "lose" a card if you didn't get the sell price you were looking for.  Then when you "find" it, you list it and try again.....
