I'm not a modern player PC guy but I do have a few Brewers from my youth like Cecil Cooper, Gorman Thomas and Ben Oglivie but for me I collect them in Brewer uniforms so the early Cecil Cooper as a Red Sox player or Ben Oglivie with the Tigers or Gorman Thomas when he went to Cleveland and Seattle aren't part of my player collection.

Makes sense! As a bulls fan, i had a small Daniel Gafford collection that was growing but he was traded towards the end of his rookie year so all of his cards went up for trade. If he had played for the team longer, i might have held on to them. Sad to see him go but i decided to move on

For whom I PC it really depends on the player. As mentioned by others, it's about who it is. I only want Boggs or Clemens in Sox unis. But for players like Reed, Burks and others I'll take them in any any uniform. Remy (hopeful on another successful cancer fight) in Angels garb is a must as well as Evans in Orioles gear (as awkward as he looks in it).

And here I was about to send you a Clemens in Blue Jays garb the year he won the Cy Young with Toronto.

Roger Clemens for me. Favorite player as a kid. His departure from the Red Sox, along with the baseball strike a couple years prior, cemented sports as a business to me.

Didn't say I'd turn it down ;). Maybe I should clarify, Clemens in Jays uniform I'm good with. He was dominate and good mentors for Carpenter and Halladay. It's his time with Yanks an Astros that I'm not fond of. Beyond the natural dislike of the Yanks is the point that he was a different person/player during those years.

Well, as a fan of Hawkking's most hated team, this last trade deadline was painful. Javy Baez is my favorite current player, so that one is probably the most painful. But in a way, Rizzo hurt more because I expected him to have a good chance of sticking around.

I only have one player PC, his rookies are from my favourite team, but I still collect his cards of other teams he's been on since.
Other than that, it's a Flames team PC, so any player in that jersey is fair game, once he leaves he's off the list.
Edit: That being said, if I were to PC a player that had a long and successful career, it might be different. My player PC is Corban Knight, really only one decent season in the NHL and currently plays in Russia.

I could probably buy the already complete sets cheaper somewhere else, but I like getting my maildays.

This is why I like my college colection the most. Typically my Stanford Football players are gonna stay at the school (K.J. Costello is the outliner, but still collect). Even though I'm a Steelers fan I like seeing the player I saw play at the college level succeed no matter what team they are on. Even when Andrew Luck was beating the Steelers.
