Does anyone know a good place to see what the top cards in any giving set is. I am not great with knowing who to look for in baseball or basketball but have a lot of unopened wax. Plus I was born in 1998 so anything before 2005 I am not as well versed in. Any websites would be great!

For baseball, look at the team name. If it St. Louis Cardinals, you've got a big hit. ;)

I'm sure there are many ways to go about doing this. This is a few that I can think of.
You can do an ebay search for the set under sold listings and look to see which cards have recently sold and for how much.
If it is a relatively recent set a great place to look is a site like dacardworld for the set where they will often list the key cards with a product they are trying to sell.
Cardboardconnection can be helpful too. They often have a "key cards" section. An example here is the 1990 leaf baseball set. https://www.cardboardconnection.com/1990-leaf-baseball-cards Some sets are not listed there so not a guarantee.

I am not a fan of eBay, I agree that it can help but if someone goes off for one game it can raise the value of the cards but does not truley reflect key cards.
I clicked through both DACardWorld and Cardboardconnection sites and did not see a key player on the few sets I looked at. I appricate that I can find it for older sets tho.
Thank you!

I also like using Cardboard Connection for the "key cards" lists on well-established sets.

You could start on this site under Set Overview with the HOF and Rookie subcategories to see what's in the set. Maybe a new subcategory "Key Cards" would narrow it more to only have the most sought after cards listed. For example:
1989 Upper Deck Baseball
"Key Cards"
#1 Ken Griffey Jr. RC
#25 Randy Johnson RC
#357 Dale Murphy Reverse Negative
Would be a huge undertaking but could bring more eyes to the site.

Might have to limit this to sets that are of a "certain age". At one point Kevin Mass, Ben McDonald and several others were "key cards" in sets, and that's certainly no longer the case.
A more recent example would be Jose Fernandez (Marlins pitcher).

I think that it is a good idea but it could be updated each year. The same rookies this year may be obsolete in a few years. Doesn't mean they arent the chase right now.
