I wouldn't really consider myself a team collector, although I am always happy when I get a card of my home teams.  But I was wondering the other day how team collectors view cards where the player is wearing one jersey, but the card itself actually lists another team.  This is usually when a player is on a new team but the photo still shows the previous jersey.  Do you still consider these cards of your team for your collection if the card lists their new team but they still have your team's jersey?

Yes, I consider those to be cards of my team.  I don't consider cards with old jersey in photo and my team name in the words to be a card of my team though, generally speaking. I almost always go by the photo.  Which is why I, and so many others, wish this site would compromise and use both teams in the card description. 

I'm a complete nut-job, I'll add both to my team collection. 

As I've been updating sets, I've been putting the swatch team in Note2 if it differs from the primary Team (example), but since the site rules are to use the prominent team named on the front (or back) of the card, we cannot put that info into the Team field or add a secondary link.

Before I started putting my team collection into tcdb, i only had cards with them pictured in the jersey, no matter what team it showed on the card. Now I have just added the few "Traded" cards to my lists, but finding cards the other way around on this site is not easy.

For me, I include them all.  As a Browns collector, if it says "Detroit Lions" but he's in a Browns uniform, I want it. If he's wearing a Giants uniform but says "Browns", I want it.  If it says "Saskatchewan Roughriders" but they're wearing Browns uniforms, I want it.

It's really a matter of personal preference, and my definition of "team" is a little broader than some.  I also include college cards/jerseys of Browns draft picks, and, for the Hall of Fame sets I include every HOFer associated with the Browns even if they're shown in a different uniform (Paul Warfield, for example split his career between Cleveland and Miami, so there's about a 50/50 chance he's shown in a Dolphins jersey).

I understand that its supposed to be by what the card lable says but I go by jersey. If I didn't, my Upper Deck 2008 Johan Santana card collection would diminish 

Yeah Ed, I understand that's the rule.  I'm just saying that a lot of members would benefit from a better rule.

The way the site is set up now.   Some people like it and other do not.   You change it and some people will like it and some will not like it.  That is the way a lot of things here are.

Maybe this new feature wouldl help collector a little.   

Not in Any List Filter

 How I see it would work.  

Add a new pull down   Don't Want   which would be color coded.  These are cards you do not want like 1/1s or team photos or players not in the jersey you want.

Change the cards in Don't Have to only the cards you do not have on any other list.  Your Collection(s), FS/FT and the new one Don't Want.  So, you can look at this list and see if any other new cards have been added to the site of that player.

If I am building a team set, I would include these for sure

If it is not part of a team set I am seeking, I would trade for it within reason, such as commons

If I was buying, i would think twice, depending on what is available
