I'm more of a set builder but for me I strongly prefer they have that home team jersey. I really dislike a lot of the current rookie cards where they have college uniforms instead of that home team jersey. This feeling also spills over into some of my player collections. I collect Ben Oglivie and Cecil Cooper in Brewers uniforms. I don't want those early cards in thos yucky Red Sox or Tiger uniforms.

I do it my own way when sorting scans into my albums on the Cardboard History Gallery. There's a definitive higharchy of how it goes:
- If the new team logo is present on the card front, it goes to that team regardless of what uniform appears in the photo
- If the card is color coded to the new team but does not have the team logo, it goes to the new team.
- If it's a relic card and the photo and relic are one team, but the colors on the card are a different team, it goes in the team that the photo and relic are from
- If it's got no logo and no team coloration on the card front, but the only thing telling you the player has changed teams is a text line saying they've been traded, it goes to the old team EXCEPT expansion teams. Expansion team cards go to the new team.
- If the card is team colored for the old team and carried the old logo, but notes that the player has been traded, it goes to the team that it's color coded for.
- If it's only mentioned on the back of the card, it doesn't matter and doesn't count at all.
- For NASCAR teams, since the majority of cards throughout the sport's history didn't bother listing the team on the cards, it goes by the photo, whatever team the person is with on the card front is the album they go to 99% of the time. There are some rare occasions where a new team is being formed or a driver is moving to a new team and the photo belongs with the old team but it's clearly a card of the new team. Those cards revert back to rule #1 on the list and are placed with the new team, but in NASCAR it's rare.
However, that's just for sorting scans. My excel files do list the new team even if it's just a line of text saying they were traded on the card front.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards. For me I think if it is a 49ers card then it is a 49ers card. Whether the jersey shows that or the team name shows that. Going deaper there are certian players that I will always see as a 49er regardless the team they play for, for example Alex Smith and Frank Gore.

For me, if the player was still in his Dodger uniform, but listed on another team, I still put the card with my Dodgers collection, (always towards the back though). This happened alot with 1962 & 1969 topps due to expansion.

I add both as well. I don't necessarily seek out the cards where my team isn't listed, but I have a few where they appear in my team's uni and another team is listed. If I buy team lots I end up with a few of these.

That's pretty much how they wind up in my possession, and I've decided if I like the card, I'll "keep" it.

Also don't like jersey cards that show one jersey but clearly have the jersey of a different team.

I sort my collection by team so I go with the team on the card.

I go with the team on the card, however if it's the jersey of my team and a different team name on the card it goes in a different section.
