Just completed my first trade that I may need to leave negative feedback - any thoughts on an appropriate amount of time to give someone before giving negative feedback.
I received a trade about a week ago that had some really bad cards (3 of the biggest cards in the trade had creases and one card missing entirely). I reached out right away to let them know and got a response the next day saying it was the son that made the trade and that the member was watching to make sure resolved. 5 days later I haven't heard anything else despite asking for an update. I have also noticed they have been logging in every day according to their profile.
My hesitation is that people make mistakes and I want to give the opportunity to resolve the issue. Any imput appreciated.

Yikes, sorry to hear about that one. For all you know, it's the son who is logging in and the other person has no idea what the son is or isn't doing. I think you're doing the right thing in waiting, but you're right, there may come a time when you just want it resolved. I don't think there's a correct amount of time to wait, but you may have to give them a deadline as to when you would expect them to fix the situation or you would just move on (and leave negative feedback).

Seems like a common theme online....it wasnt me, but my son/brother/wife and/or ghosting. If they are actually watching their son to achieve a resolution, why weren't they watching them to make sure they made the trade in the first place??? Mistakes happen but contrary to what some people think inaction isnt really action. I am currently being ghosted by a sportslots seller and feel like some sort of resolution should be proposed once they acknowledge that "mistakes" were made...5 days is more than plenty, a simple "Im working on it" is better than nothing at all. I think there are plenty examples of the offending party ignoring the issue, simply hoping you will just go away.

If it is their first ever negative perhaps you could go with neutral and tell people that this may be an issue and to confirm that junior is working with parent?

I just don't understand someone not taking accountability. We all make mistakes at times, but it's how we act when that happens that shows our true colours. I definitely think setting a deadline is great advice.
It' s just cards, it's really not hard to fix.....

If they are not communicating with you, that in itself is a problem worthy of a negative feedback.

Agree Dan, that is why I'm thinking "Negative" vs neutral because neutral imo would be at least attempting to resolve.

I am kind of dealing with the same issue right now with a member. I did get the cards requested in our trade (this is an overseas trade) but when going through them I noticed that 2 of them were damaged. I let the guy know and he asked me to choose 2 replacement cards from his trade list. I did that through the trade messages but it's been almost 2 weeks now and still no response from the guy. He has logged in quite a few times during that time period with his last showing on the 8th of this month.

If you are not happy with the trade experience then leave a negative feedback.
Trading should be an enjoyable experience for you and if your trade partner is not providing that then negative feedback is justified.

You're trade experience was negative, so it warrants negative feedback....it sucks, but is what it is. If the other trader makes it right, then maybe switch it to neutral.
I've given neutral feedback once due to lack of communication and taking a month to update/close out the transaction....even the neutral rating didn't prompt the other trader to say anything.....I just checked and they have recently been dinged with two negative reviews.
Point of the story is the reviews are useful for future traders.
