Is it a thing for ebay sellers to pretend that they sent cards when they never did? This is the third time that I got a real good bargain on an auction, the seller said they were shipped with that goofy PWE tracking, and then the cards never showed up. I am up to close to 300 PWE trades here and have not had one not show up yet. I am wondering if the seller did not get as much as they wanted on the auctions so just pretened like they sent it. Later they blame it on the post office and issue a refund. Has anyone else had this problem or suspect this may be a thing?

Yup, if you win an auction for a low price some lesser sellers will just issue a refund when you let them know it didn't show up. But just cardboardrd....

I haven't had it happen to me, but I would be certain to keep an eye on their listings to see if the 'missing' cards show up again.

The one that gets me is when they refund because it was a "wrong listing" or its not in stock (after auction has ended) Even then ebay tracking is wrong more often than not. I had one arrive 11 days after it was marked as delivered by ebay. My brother won an auction, but never received, when the seller solicited feedback he got mad when my brother wouldnt give feedback since it didnt arrive (positive or negative)...but seller insisted that it did since ebay tracking said so.

Got one at the moment where I won a card for .99c with approx $4 postage.
As I live in New Zealand I had all my purchases going to a freight forwarder to collate and send on for me. Given this was a low value item I somehow missed it had not reached the freight forwarder when I got everything sent on to New Zealand.
Once I got my package in New Zealand and sorted and checked everything off I realised I was short this card. Checking tracking shows the card was never shipped.
As about 4 months had elapsed between my puchase and receiving my cards in NZ thre are no Ebay avenues I can go through to claim the card or a refund. I have tried messaging the seller multiple times but just get ignored.
I know this one is partially on me for losing track of the item and taking so long to follow up, but, for such a lousy amount of money you would think they would just offer a refund (they have 100% feedback too).

I have had it happen a time or two, but not very frequently. Unfortunately, some sellers are that way though. Hopefully your cards arrive soon. There are several flaws on eBay, but fortunately I haven't been gotten many times.

Yeah I absolutely HATE the "PWE Tracking" on yaBe as there's no barcode so there's nothing to scan other than whatever the sorting machines pick up (i'm guessing that's how it works since you can't track on USPS website like a 1st class/priority etc. package)

I've only had 100% success with eBay. Having said that I am a niche collector and only collect C.F.L. Hamilton Tiger-Cats cards. Perhaps my cards not being particularly valuable or as widely known as others defends them from scammers.

I would much rather pay $1 shipping for a PWE than $5 and have it dropped in a padded envelope with no protection. Saving $4 on shipping for under $20 cards and you'll quickly come out ahead on the few that don't show up.
I had a card marked delivered in the tracking on 12/6 even though I never received it. I assumed USPS delivered it to the wrong address because they do that from time to time.
Was rather surprised when I received it in the mail last week, two months later than the date it was "delivered" with the same tracking number on it.

I recently won a single card auction way below market value and then received this note.
I hate to tell you this, but in the process of getting your card ready to ship, I accidentally damaged it. It was in one of those non-rigid card saver top loaders, and it slipped off the table. Had I just left it fall, it would have been fine in the holder. But I instinctively grabbed for it with both hands, and as luck would have it, I caught the holder with both hands on each side, which bent the holder, and consequently, the card as well. It creased it the whole length of the card! I couldn't believe I did that. Anyway, I can just cancel out the order if you'd like. I can't imagine that you would still want the card, even at a reduced price.
I took the refund but wonder if it was legit. Anyone recieved a similar note?
