Looking to start building a 2009 football set. What is your favorite from that year? Thanks ahead for the feedback.

For something basic, go with Topps or Upper Deck. Stafford is probably the only good rookie from that year.

Thanks, I was thinking Topps might be the best choice but I wanted another opinion.

Never realized how bad that draft was until I read your comment...
Other guys from that draft who had at least decent years: Clay Matthews III, LeSean McCoy, Jason McCourty, Alex Mack, Julian Edelman...maybe a handful of others, but a really bad draft overall. Heck, Edelman's career probably puts him in the top 10 of that draft, and I don't think he had a card in either the Topps or Upper Deck base releases that year.

Topps, Upper Deck, or Philadelphia (for the vintage look).

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

Yeah, it's difficult to see anyone from that rookie class ending up in the HOF.

There were some decent players (obviously a fan of McCoy and Malcolm Jenkins from that year), but I just meant in terms of rookie card collecting, the only one that might be a few dollars is Stafford, and it'll go up if he wins the Super Bowl tonight

Maybe. But only if you are after having significant rookie cards in the set. 2008 and 2011 had much better rookie classes. But it will take a lot more effort and money to complete sets from those years than for the 2009 sets. I agree that base Topps or UD would be the sets to chase for 2009. But then UD doesn't have anything after 2010 and it's only Topps or Panini products. I liked the design of the 2009 UD products more than the Topps products that year. I loved the 2010 Topps Platinum set though and it's not hard to complete. For 2011, the Topps Rising Rookies set is nice and not hard to complete, even with several good RC's. For 2008, my choice would be the Topps Chrome set. Just giving you some options off the top of my head. Let us know what you decide to chase and I'm sure you will have some help completing a set from this site.

You might want to look into Score.
The only two players from the class who has a shot for the HOF are Alex Mack, and Matthew Stafford. Stafford will need a few more years. It is hard to determine whether an OL makes the HOF, because of the lack of stats. Mack does have 7 Pro Bowl selections under his belt.
At least the 2009 class is better than the 1992 class. The only player who might be selected from this class is Darren Woodson, and this is a long shot.
