I'm going to put my 6 cent worth in as 2 cent is worth 6 cent now.
IMO This postings again about what a card is worth (the price). Just narrowed down to the low end of card collecting.
Inflation does come into play with new releases. You can not find a 5 cent pack any more. The secondary market is a different. It is driven by Supply and Demand or what people think the supply and demand is.
There is a large supply of (forgive me) Junk era cards. Due to the fact most people do not want to waste their time and energy with them they end up in closet or trashed. So it may be harder to find people willing to take the time and effort getting you these cards. These cards on selling platforms are higher then 5 cent to buy because of all the fees not what they are worth. (If you are a flipper there is a lot of cards on COMC ounder $.05. The seller may only get less then 5 cent if they sale. The demand has risen a little on these cards now that the newer cards have gone up in price. but still not like the new releases.
For the last 4 years that I have been trying to sell my nephew's collection. I have talked to many dealers and resellers. None of them are interested in them even a less then $.005 each. As Dan said it is not worth their time or effect dealing for them to dealwith these cards. The collectors just want the cards they need.
The last show I went to there was only a couple of kids. A lot of 20 and 30 year old guys buying to resell. As one seller told me a lot of looker but few buyer (unless you dropped the price), but it was better then last months show.
