I am confused on how to manage my multiple collections. Until recently I have just operated with a Main Collection, which contained my Puckett PC and a few miscellaneous other baseball cards, golf set, and a few football cards. I decided to separate out my Puckett PC into a new collection, resulting in a Main Collection and a Puckett collection. Each collection has its own FST and Want List. The administrative mystery that has arisen for me--when I have received and traded out cards through the Transaction protocol, the cards I traded out appear to be taken from the respective collections, however the Puckett cards that come in are dropping into my Main Collection. And I have to go looking for them, and manually change which collection they belong to. In those situations, if that card was on my Puckett Want List, when it comes in, it does remove it from my Puckett Want List....however, the incoming cards are all going to the Main Collection. I have looked for a setting, but see none. Is it a given that all cards that come in via trades or buys thru the Transactions protocol will always be going to the Main Collection? Any guidance will be appreciated.

yes, it is a given that new arrivals go into main collection
you have to move from there (if needed)
Some people keep their main collection empty to help with this, but not me

As Mark mentions, most of us keep the "Main Collection" empty, and then move the cards to their respective collections when they come in. This was a conscious decision by Admin when he incorporated the Multiple Collection feature to have any incoming cards go into your Main Collection. One of the main reasons for the multiple collections was to be able to track cards that were wanted/collected across collections (multi-player cards, for example). If only one of those cards is obtained in a trade, which collection should it go in? This allows you to put it in the collection you want it in.

I created a new collection called "Received in Trade" and sorted that to be the collection in position #1. Then after everytrade, I can go into that collection and put them in the proper collection. It has saved me a lot of time.
EDIT: I should have indicated that it is my understanding that the cards received in trades are defaulted to the collection in position #1.

Thanks, that is very helpful. Once I understand the parameters, I can work with this accordingly. Helps to know that I wasn't doing something wrong. Appreciate the quick responses.

Just exactly how do you "sort that collection to be in position #1"? I looked at my Collections screen, but don't see any ability to resort their order, or grab and move, etc.?

Across from the "Create a New Collection" green button you'll see and up and down arrow. Clicknig on those arrows brings you to the Sort function where you can jiggle how your collections.

I split my Main into categories that are easy to move...I can select move all Baseball to one collection, non-sport to another, etc. Transactions will pull wants from the various collections and once received, add them to main. Once I put the cards in their permanent home, I'll move them from Main to the relevant collection. To learn how moving and organizing work on this site, I'd suggest making a small test collection and try the different options to see what actually happens. Then you know what options to select on a larger scale.
