I am looking for insight on if this set qualifies to be on the site. It was produced by a local newspaper in 1988 to hype the upcoming football season for the college team based in the town (University of Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles). The newspaper promoted them as "Eagle Cards" which were randomly located thoughout the paper each day over a series of weeks. The newpaper had an ad on the front of each issue noting that Eagle Cards were included and to "collect them all". The cards themselves were printed on/in the newspaper (thus on newspaper stock, and had to be cut out) with the reverse side being a portion of whatever random article happened to be on that side.
I only question inclusion on the site due to the uniquiness, but considering there are sets from cutout from milk cartons (multiple examples), magazines (like the All American Sports Club football set), Coke Caps, etc. I assume this one qualifies.
I think it qualifies as they were formatted as cards (with a consistent format and size 2.75 inches x 3.75 inches), advertised as a set of cards to collect (unlike some random picture in a paper with a stat by it), has player photo, has stats (if they had any stats) and bio info, etc.
The cards themselves are unnumbered (they do have the uniform number). To my knowledge there were 70 cards in the set.
I've attached a photo (not a scan for now). Hopefully it comes through.
