I've noticed a lot of sellers doing this. They presume basically every card is a 1 of 1. 1/135 is the only one numbered 1, 2/135 is the only one numbered 2, and so on. They think (and I guess they could be correct) that people will fall for it and overpay. Personally I think its wrong, but its also why I don't buy many cards on eBay anymore. I'm not sure what the market is on Ranford cards (or hockey at all really) but I can't think of any card that is worth shelling out $400 for (aside from obvious older cards of course).
Having said that, technically I guess they aren't incorrect as it is the only one of that number, so they knew what they were doing and titled it the way they did to draw the buyer in. I do think its wrong to do business that way though, and maybe after a few months of nobody buying that card they will lower the price or realize people don't like being mislead and change the title.
While I'm at it, I hate sellers who post a card then say "card is what is pictured" and no other info on the card. If you want to seriously sell the card, give as much info as possible, especially if you are trying to get 400 bucks for it. If its worth anything more than a couple bucks, then take the effort to give a pitch why we should want the card.

Completely agree. The description will say, "Card is mint." That's all you could muster up trying to jack someone for hundreds of dollars? I hate when they put key words in the heading that have nothing at all to do with the actual item for sale.

they're doing the 1/1 thing because of the search criteria.. for example, one of the saved searchs i have is "Eli Manning 1/", so anything that pops with a 1 in the tittle will fall into that. Another reason is if the card is JSY and just so lucklily happens to have an emblem of some sort.. they're saying its a 1 of (more so 1 of its kind)
either way, along w/ the every card is "N MNT" its bs reasons to get ppl to view and impulse buy. if im interested in it, ill email them and lay out my thought on it

I'm with tonym on this one more or less .... The MEM are of chunks of hockey stick and I think because it's got the NHL logo they think it's probably the only one like it, well if that's the case almost every one would be a 1 of 1 .... I paid 22.50 for mine and its a plain white chunk .... Still is 96/135 .... But paid peanuts as it's the least wanted because it's boring old white. I bet it will sit there for a long time lol ..... There are a few Ranford collectors as I have found out over the years but none of us are gullible, lol, his cards are not considered premium!!!

I wish you could block sellers from your eBay searches. When I search tobacco cards, I always get a million homemade cards from that guy who makes his own sets of swimsuit models or whatever. He must have like 500 of them for sale at any given time. And they are all RARE SN3, of course.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

I guess I should have mentioned you'll find that feature in the Advanced Search area. :)
