Still chasing, 30+ years, Nolan Ryan rookie.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

30 feet. It was a windy day and I was sorting cards outside on a picnic table.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Is that an active chase? Or more of a "I really want this card, but haven't found it for the right price?" Because it seems one can find just about every single card nowadays, for me the only real "chase" is finding one in a condition I want at the right price. That can be hard, but I'm not very patient in that arena. I stalked 1956 Jackie Robinsons for almost a year, mostly assessing what they went for, then I pulled the trigger. 1953 Satchell Paige was shorter, as was my hunt for my few T205s.
I've got about 8 cards I'm actively hunting now. They're out there. But I'm not gonna spend $200 for some PSA 6. Don't need or want that. So the hunt continues. Along with a '71 Ryan, by the way.
And I, too, love the "30 feet" line....

in the same boat.. more of a money thing now..like the 1963 Topps Pete Rose RC - need to set aside cash for that unless someone here would like to send it to me as a gift ! that, along with a couple others. but, been running down Eli's rookie year (2004) for a while now.

Too many counterfeits, so I'm stuck finding a graded that's not overpriced.

There are some Selanne cards I've never even SEEN, let alone considered them a "chase" card. And most of them are from the 90's. I swear they're at the bottom of someone's closet in the middle of the Arctic circle.

As far as "Chased " goes, it would be the 1979 Topps MLB Ozzie Smith RC. It took me 22 years to finally get one. It wasn't that they weren't available, it was that I couldn't afford one when it showed up. I found out about the RC card in 1987, but I was 9 years old then. I tried to get one throughout the early-2000's when I could afford to buy one. I was never happy with the quality though. In 2009, I busted a new box of either Finest MLB or UD Icons MLB and pulled a Pablo Sandoval AU RC. I traded it for an Ozzie RC that would easily grade at an 8, but I'm guessing a 9 grade. That would be my longest chase for a major card.
Also, I spent 2+ years trying to get the 'S' (SN50) to complete my Jimmie Johnson 2009 Press Pass Eclipse Solar Swatches Memorabilia nameplate. I am still searching for 9 of the 17 2009 Press Pass Holofoil parallels (SN100) of the base cards. That's at 6 years now + I still need 3 of the Gold parallels (no SN) to complete my master rainbow for the 2009 PP base set of Jimmie Johnson. It still drives me nuts that I am 12 short of the 85 cards for the master rainbow! I've gotten so far but haven't added a new one in a couple of years now.

On your Teemu Selanne cards, I would be curious to what ones you are talking about in the 90's? You have 1553 Teemu cards is that a total with duplicates or different ones? I looked at what you have on the DB and it does not show that or your wants. Either way impressive collection.
