I thought about switching to Disqus when I revamp mine in a month or two but was having trouble implementing it, so I'm sticking with the blogger comment forum. I think since you have a google account you can comment on blogger and wordpress if I'm not mistaken. As for jumping through hoops, sometimes it depends on what blog it is and how they have it. I have trouble sometimes with wordpress ones and some that use pop up windows, but other times it works in a snap.
I'm not sure if you read my blog (and I'm not trying to get you to, I don't press anyone to), but as a blogger, I aprreciate that you took the time to get an account so you could leave comments. Some bloggers heavily rely on the feedback in the comments sections on ways to improve their blog or see what people enjoy reading. It's also good to sign up so you can enter contests many bloggers have throughout the year. At any rate, I started blogging after I got hooked reading others and them jumping in and reading comments. Be sure to mention on here if you decide to start your own, as I get a lot of pageviews from the Database.
