I picked up a card lot of ~1400 hockey cards a few weeks back and decent number of them are clearly yellowed.

This photo is of the same set (1995-96 Topps).

For the purposes of trading (not necessarily selling, just doing a trade), I should probably chunk the yellowed ones, right? I'd be bummed if I got yellowed cards, but also wasn't sure if that may be par for the course on cards that are 30+ years old?

I don't chuck them. Personally, I annotate them as ExMt and put a browned in the Comment field. It at least gives potential traders a heads up on condition. Some don't care about browned/yellowed. Like my 60s cards that are less than brilliant due to decades of handling. 

Does it affect the fronts or backs?

You look for traders like me who don't give a hoot about stuff like that. 

Of course if you're that picky, more than likely you wouldn't want to trade with me because I don't notice that. 

I like my white cards white. 

If they're brown, flush 'em down.

I personally don't care if the edges are brown/yellow as long as the front/back looks fine and the card is in mint/near mint condition. Otherwise, I just use it for a bookmark or something.

But if they're Yellow, let them mellow.
