Way more than I should according to my wife (about $100 a month on average). But hey, no drugs, minimal alcohol, don't smoke.

Generally, yes. But then I'll spend $100 on lucha libre stickers to build a checklist or two. Who knows?

I honestly don't know what I spend on cards - at all. Monthly, yearly, etc. I do know that I know what I'm buying, and I know what I want to spend on each item, and I try to keep it within my predetermined range. I also will spend whatever I get when I sell stuff. We have food, we're not behind on bills, etc., so it's not out of control. LOL

Funny you should ask. As just a few weeks ago. I checked what I was spending on the hobby in 2023.
Before the last couple of years my card fund was $20 per month. Now (most of 2022 and all of 2023) it has been only what I have sold from my extras, so it has been up and down. 2023 averaged around $34 per month. Thanks to a couple of nice sales.

Minimum $50.00 a month on postage for trades and then maybe a few hundred a month for purchases (on a cheap month).
Probably a realistic estimate is about 5K a year when you factor in supplies as well.

I probably am at $20+ per month for trades postage, but usually go over that some due to periodic eBay dabbling.

Usually upwards of $100 a month. Mostly COMC, some at LCS and sometimes antique stores. I've got a great wife who's ok with it. She has her spending interests too so it's all good. Is my only hobby. No hunting, fishing etc. Not a smoker, drinker or drugs either as another member stated earlier. I really enjoy TCDB and try to contribute as much as I can, mostly scans.

Like most people in the hobby i have no concrete idea. $20 doesn't buy a blaster, so yes more than that.
I would venture to guess the happier I am with the Brewers front office there is certainly a uptick in spending. As proof I bought one blaster of Heritage High number since Craig Counsell left and shortly before that Jesse Winker was on the post season rooster and Garrett Mitchell was left off.
I would consider myself definitely a "emotional " spender on this hobby.

Baseball cards are really the only thing I spend money on outside of necessities. Once bills are paid and groceries are bought, the rest goes to cards. Usually that means several retail boxes of cards and then some singles off eBay each paycheck.
