I wouldnt. Protects the card overall. I used to do business with a
collect in The New Orleans area. When Katrina hit he house and contents
where hammered really bad. Most of what he owned was ruined. All that
remained was the encased graded cards. He said they were floating
around. in the water but they were fine. food for thought

Thanks, but I figure I'll have a lot more to worry about than my '59 Koufax if I encounter a Katrina-like disaster. And my collection is well-insured. ;-)

More food for thought. Go online and research graded counterfeits. Naturally this usually involves high end cards. There are even questions regarding whether a lot of these slabs are waterproof. Caveat emptor.

If it's not hi grade and you want to get your hands on it and add it to your set, do it! Keep it protected nonetheless, but a 4 is nothing too good to leave it in there if it's eating away at you. Just my opinion...

Somtimes I wonder if there is a way to open a PSA or Beckett case, replace the card with a reprint, and than send in the raw card again and again for grading. Where there is a will there is a way so they say. Plus how expensive are those plastic cases to make, really? All these high end insert cards selling on eBay from China and east Asia... they probably make those cases for PSA and Beckett anyway. No graded cards for me thank you! Maybe for RCs but thats about it.

Well, it's me again. I've left Sandy in his casing for now, but tonight I just won an auction for a 1972 Les Cain card, graded a 6 by PSA. I got it for probably less than it's worth ungraded. I couldn't case less about Les Cain, except that he puts me within 19 of completing that set. And a 6 really isn't worth it. So as soon as he arrives, out of the case he goes.

If you're asking me, I let Ssndy be. I've ended up with a few more graded cards over the last couple years. I think I have seven now. Nothing above a 4. I buy them because I feel better about authenticity through eBay sales. From my shop, I'd trust it more. I wanted Sandy out on the shelf, anyway. Thanks for asking.

One year ago, I wasn't into graded cards at all. I was anti-graded. Then as I got into vintage, it became something that appealed to me (hoping to cut down on fakes). I can't say I lean one way or the other, but I don't despise graded. That being said, 99.9% of my collection.
The great thing about this hobby is that nobody collects exactly the same. It's all about what makes you happy.
