I do appreciate the quality of scan debate on this site. If I look at the five most recently completed galleries on the homepage right now, three of the five have black L-shaped uncropped sample cards. If quality truly mattered you would be able to contact admin and they would revoke that uploader's permissions.

I'd rather see a janky scan that a member actually did of a card he owned that was slabbed than a crap-loader's bulk efforts of skewed, washed out, stock photos. It isn't that hard to fix the rotation and contrast and make it look right if you actually care. Or you can try to upload the most crap...

This isn't my finest scan but I do own the card and it is sealed from Bowman/Topps and I scanned it in the case.

It seems the general consensus on this site is you must follow the rules and do it this way unless you are a bulk craploader and then it doesn't matter. At least that is my observation.

For the record I agree with the guys who are leaving their encased cards sealed with the manufacturers sticker. Just upload crooked crap and no one will care what you do.

To be clear, in the case of my card, the Topps seal/sticker is large enough that it would cover the top part of the card if I did scan it in the case.  So scanning that particular card in the case is not an option

I have a couple I will not take out, and there are a few I have removed. One or two I am on the bubble about.

The way I look at it if something is rare enough, the scan with the seal is better than nothing at all. But I don't make the rules.

I HAVE to poke my nose in this conversation! If it is a Bowman/Topps "Uncirculated Card", it MUST be scanned with the one-touch case and sticker and not cropped out b/c that is the only way they were released. Another addition would be Panini Plates & Patches sealed cards. Without the way they were originally released in packs and boxes, the scans don't provide the real info.

If it is cards like buy-backs or redemptions of cards that were supposed to be in packs that were later shipped from the manufacturer, I see no problem removing the case b/c these are not box/pack-pulled versions of the card OR an 'Uncirculated Card".

I have no issues with with these cards being scanned with the loader and sticker but again it is admin's decision. To me it is like all those cards from the late 90s I have that have the "peel off" coverings on them, I left all mine on as that is how the cards were packaged and would not even attempt to peel them now. And I do believe they are to be scanned as such ... with the covering still on the card, so to me the top loader / sticker situation is not much different. Just my two cents. =)

I totally agree with that too! I have never peeled the "Protective Coating" off any of my cards!

And it wasn't just the late-90's. Topps Finest MLB started that in 1994.
