I do appreciate the quality of scan debate on this site. If I look at the five most recently completed galleries on the homepage right now, three of the five have black L-shaped uncropped sample cards. If quality truly mattered you would be able to contact admin and they would revoke that uploader's permissions.
I'd rather see a janky scan that a member actually did of a card he owned that was slabbed than a crap-loader's bulk efforts of skewed, washed out, stock photos. It isn't that hard to fix the rotation and contrast and make it look right if you actually care. Or you can try to upload the most crap...
This isn't my finest scan but I do own the card and it is sealed from Bowman/Topps and I scanned it in the case.

It seems the general consensus on this site is you must follow the rules and do it this way unless you are a bulk craploader and then it doesn't matter. At least that is my observation.
For the record I agree with the guys who are leaving their encased cards sealed with the manufacturers sticker. Just upload crooked crap and no one will care what you do.
