Last night on Jeopardy during the "meet the contestants" part in talking with the champ (I think it was the champ might have been the gal in the middle I wasn't paying that much attention). The contestant said she used to collect Basketball cards because of the possiblity of pulling a "million dollar card". Maybe it was from a Topps Million Dollar Sweepstakes were it was possible to instantly win One Million $s She never got one obviously. Alex asked if she was still collecting and she said no she was not. I think he then said "good".
Million Dollar Basketball Card? OK other than Jordan's Rookie card maybe in a few years what other Hoops card could be a Million Dollar Card?

Or it was just an exaggeration. Like those people who say they want to put their kids/grandkids through college with their collections.

Billy, I couldn't have said it better.

I will entertain trades but please don't offer me a 1993 Dave Stieb for a Nolan Ryan rookie. I prefer player for player (at least similar era and similar stardom).

Must have been referring to ebay prices.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

She must be a dull person if she had nothing better to say about herself than a hobby she used to have and doesn't do anymore!

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.
