Hi all -
Had some free time recently and have been doing some inputing of missing dates of birth into the database. Got golf down to 4 names missing and chipping away at soccer (90 left of the 100 that were there in the beginning). My question is the protocol on players with no cards listed. Do we go ahead and delete those names? I know there is a permissions section for it, and I'm authorized to do so, but I wanted to make sure that this is a situation where deleting a name is appropriate. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks!

I'll never quit collecting entirely, but I am downsizing. Check out my COMC store and help me thin out what I don't want so I can buy cards that I do want. See something you like? Send me a message on here, and we can knock the price down quite a bit. I'll even take a bit of a loss if it means getting you a card you really want.

If it was a duplicate entry, or turned out to be an alias of someone who already had a PID, then go ahead and delete it.
I'm not sure how else a legitimate name would be in the database without any card associated with them.

There are a number of reasons a PID could be here with no cards. In any case, it's easy enough to make it again. I say delete. It's what I do when I come across a cardless PID.

That was my thought - it's almost like there was a card there but there isn't now? Doesn't really make any sense. Unfortunately I don't know enough about soccer (and many other sports such as golf, MMA, etc) to determine if it's an alias or other name. In case anyone is curious, here is the name in question.

It comes up on the DOB list as "Didi (b. 1928-10)

So then, once "Didi" is deleted, "Didi" should be added as an alias to Waldyr Pereira's PID.
PIDs can be created for just about any name for any sport/category when someone has the permission to do so. Looks like in this case, the name on the card was used to make the Didi PID, then someone realized the real name, and made a PID for that name, and transferred the card from the first PID to the other PID.

Sorry, had to get some stuff taken care of this afternoon so I wasn't able to make the changes myself; seems like others have already. Thanks a bunch! Dan, what you said makes sense. I would imagine that with a sport like soccer (many single names and international names) this could be a common PID error, although this is the first example I've seen of a player with no cards listed. I'm also having a devil of a time trying to find DOBs for the college athletes on the schedule cards - I wish they weren't in there but I suppose they are technically "trading cards". I'll keep chipping away and trying to cut down the missing DOBs in the meantime!
