Changed my Avatar / Profile Pic (?) just now, little guy is getting into collecting more and more all the time. He got Pokemon and Club Penguin cards, some sheets and a binder from his sister today and is having a blast tonight. Times like these are awesome. =D

Awesome! Great pic too. It almost looks like my nephew in that pic. The difference would be that only his sports cards go in pages. The Pokemon cards are carried around in a loose stack. I keep telling him that he should protect them instead of play with them, but that won't happen. As long as they make him happy and he has fun with them, I won't complain (too much).

That is awesome. Great seeing the kids taking an interest in the hobby. It actually reminds me I need to figure out what to get my son for his upcoming birthday. He wants cards but not too specific about what he wants other than that they be baseball or basketball.

Thanks everyone, that desk I call mancave 2.0 .... it sits right outside the my office / mancave and is where I work from when the wife comes down to read a book, then all of us are down together in our family room. He's got $57 between tooth fairy and birthday money so he (in his words) wants to go buy a "whack" of stuff from wal-mart includung some more Pokemon cards. Hahaha kids.

My son, now 28, learned to count by helping me sort baseball cards. I consider myself very fortunate that he has maintained his early love of baseball cards. (He is currently putting together a 1954 Topps set.) We were talking earlier today about his next purchase goal. I suggested one of the 2 Ted Williams. He is planning on looking for a Jackie Robinson. "You don't even have a Jackie Robinson card." Bottom line: Enjoy the moments. I'm lucky I get to keep having them.

Speaking of learning and to show you how ancient I am. In the 4th grade, I kept running daily totals of every Major leaguers batting average. I would get the morning paper and start with the long divisions, using copious amounts of paper in the process. One day my older brother saw me doing this and he taught me to use a slide rule (google it if you don't know what that is). Gone was the paper long division and it saved probably 90% of the time. Hobbies can be a learning experience in more ways than the obvious.
