So I'm not sure how many of you pay attention to the missing checklists To Do, but the majority of what's left in Baseball and Football are recent Panini offerings.  The problem is the offical checklists released by Panini number all the cards, but many of the card inserts and parallels are not numbered, but have lettered card designations,  like NA-CS and such.   I've been able to peice together some of the smaller insert sets and add them, but the larger sets are a problem, plus Panini is inconsistant on how they letter their sets.  

So my question is does anyone have any ideas on how or what should be done with these sets?  I'm a completist and having so many checklists missing really starts to bug me, especially when I have a card I want to add.

I feel your pain, been working the hockey checklists for a while now and some of those sets that need checklists are impossible to find and if you do you know they are not correct.

It's definitely annoying. Even the non-auto/relic inserts are having letters in the number now, at least in NASCAR. Sometimes in NBA but rarer.
 

What I've been doing is finding an example of one- either in my collection or for sale- that shows a scan of the back or at least details the number in the listing. Once I have that I can usually figure out the numbers of the actual cards. They might not be correct 100% of the time but an educated guess is better than the totally wrong numbers they provide.

And to make matters worse I have seen them use the SAME number in the same insert set when they use letters...(not really a number, but the number field). I don't remember which set but I remember when I was researching the checklist for posting here I saw two cards for sale on Ebay with the exact same number. It was an NBA set is all I remember.

I use Beckett mostly to verify Insert Sets.. If your not a subscriber , send me a list and I will research for you..

i know i know i know... for me.. right or wrong... this is what i do.. first off..i HATE the alpha numbering. so when Panini publishes a CL.. i start creating my own (from the MFR) then i start to scrub the net - mostly Ebay for sales and get the card #'s off of there and incorporate it into the CL then upload the list as a whole, complete.

Unfort... sometimes that is impossible because of the mass of redemeption cards or low SN cards that prob won't be posted for quite sometime. So, yes, i have failed the task in that area of CL, and uploaded some with just the beckett numbering.. 1,2,3,4, etc and try to go back later (if i remember) and insert some of the actual card #'s..

in other cases, i have uploaded a mix of it.. if a 30 card set was issued and i found 10 actual numbers, i submitted the CL with both.. ten cards with actual card #'s, and 20 with Beckett numbering IE: Card 1 Player A, Card 2 AA-BBB Player B, and so on,, sloppy ? yes, probably, but its something that probably won't be completed or posted somewhere for quite sometime. at least its a start for someone else in the future to work off if they happen to get a card in that set or to work on if they have the info.

Beckett uses the same CL that Panini posts on their website. Beckett is also LESS likely to EVER correct card numbers. I've been a member of Beckett for 14 years and they still don't correct "numbers" that are actually letters when I tell them exactly what they are. You will never get the correct card "Number" info from Beckett if the numbers are actually letters for anything from Panini. They post the CL that Panini gives them and they stick with that. Most of the multi-sport 2016 Panini Father's Day cards still say "TBA" as the name attached to the card numbers.

Panini has been really crappy with their CL's for inserts since they started. If they are going to put numbers on the CL's on their website, they need to do the same for the actual cards, especially when they aren't listed alphabetically in the first place!

Their Americana sets are a nightmare too in the non-sports section. I tried to make sense of it, and correct what I could but not had time for a while.
