I just did a mini project where I went through the alphabet of my Basketball and Baseball collection looking for PID errors.
I have a pretty small collection in comparison with most here (about 5400 cards) and I found a decent amount of my cards not linking to the correct PID. Some examples were James Jones of the Cavs, Chris Carter of the Brewers, Jordan Hill of the Twolves and Reggie Jackson of the Pistons.
I just went through looking for names with parentheses after them, and made sure they were the correct player.
It was a pretty simple task to go through my own collection finding the errors, and I would suggest searching through your own collection for these type of errors and making sure they are the correct PID. Just a thought to help make the site more accurate bit by bit.

Here's something you may not realize:
When you click the "Check Names" button (or load the page in the Name Validation "Thing To Do" area), any cards without a PID is checked right then and there for matches, and if anything matches, bang, it gets linked. I found this out the hard way. There was a set I was working on, and the cards should not have been linking, and finally I told Admin, and they were able to do an override of some variety to get the set validated without linking the cards that linked 5 times previously.

CAD, you have some good points, and I don't see it as an argument at all. In fact, what's odd, I was in the middle of a post saying how I agreed with you (from the post before the last one), but couldn't find the right words, scrapped it and then saw this one. We have Baseball, Football, etc, and Misc Sports for any sports that aren't their own category, I don't see a reason to find our largest Non-Sport categories and put them on their own.
The only down side to this that I see right away: There are many comics and movies (and even TV shows) that have common characters (Batman, Spiderman, etc. spring to mind). If anyone has any ideas on how to do this, I would be willing to alert Admin to this possibility and how to execute the plan. But, we should have a pretty solid plan in place first. I think it's a great idea to do this, we just need to figure out how.

I agree that the adult section should be moved / segregated / ostracized from the playful kiddie section of the non sport stuff. there are so many sub groups in the non sport now... maybe separating to new sections would be a good idea for more than just that. keep dc and marvel worlds together, disney away from ccg, star wars...( I can only imagine the wierd card links that genre could involve,) but the problem is man hours and who wants to take the task on? admin can set up the groups, but someone probably needs to move the sets where they belong...
