I can't say I know who John Chartrand was, but I saw how young he was on his passing and decided to click it to see how he came to be on the site. I saw coincidentally that he was born and died on July 7th. Highly coincidental that he passed on his birthday. I googled it to see what happened and he passed in a car crash in Canada on Highway 401 near 404. That isn't too far from Buffalo, although. Very sad passing for someone so young.

It's really sad to see someone pass away so young, ESPECIALLY since we share a birthday! I am 15 years older than he was on that day. I can't imagine how my family would have dealt with such a situation, no matter what my age was at the time. Of all the days to lose your life (in any way), your birthday has to be one of the worst.
I always hate hearing/reading about people killed in vehicular accidents. I just don't understand how drivers can be so distracted or careless that they wreck and take others out with them. I could understand if it's a mechanical failure or drugs/alcohol are involved, but it still sucks how many people (and animals) die b/c of vehicles every year.

It's actually not all that uncommon to die on your birthday. Still stinks though, and usually much older than 24. I used to work on Find-A-Grave...it's like a Database for dead people/cemeteries. It was a lot more common than I expected. I stopped though because it was getting too depressing. I still have a couple hundred pictures I have and need to upload though so I will go back at some point. It really hammers home how big WWII was. Even in my little home town there are dozens of WWII veterans, including one killed storming the beach on D-Day. As a history buff I always knew WWII was a massive undertaking, but that really drove home how all-encompassing it was. During the photography process I've actually found people born in the 1600s and veterans of every war dating back to the Revolution. My goal in that project was to make sure that no one was forgotten to history, at least as much as I could do. Sorry I got off track there.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards. I would guess that, worldwide, about 1 in 365 people die on their birthday.

Looks like for this particular crash, the driver of the truck that Chartrand struck was uninjured. No one else was injured in this incident. Sincere condolences to his family and friends.
My grandfather was one of those who passed away on his birthday. It was on his 81st birthday (and it was 17 years ago).

I saw the Find-a-grave website a number of years back. Was thinking about getting involved but decided it would make me think too much and depress me

I finally looked at the site (just now) and found out that the side of the family I thought was from England was only partially from there, but I have a long line of relatives from Philadelphia (go figure!) and one even fought in the Revolutionary War! I had no idea! Really cool stuff.
