I took my 5 year old daughter and had a nice Daddy Daughter day at National on Thursday. Got her a box of Frozen stickers, a 1992 Upper Deck Comic Ball baseball box (Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and other characters on the cards), some Lego's (Princess UniKitty) and she loved looking at all the bobble heads.
As for myself, I picked up some 2017 Baseball boxes (Heritage, Archives and Topps Series 2) and 2017 Football boxes (Classics, Certified and Prestige). Unfortunately, Topps ran out of the redemption cards before noon so I missed out on those. Panini on the other hand had plenty of silver redemption packs if you purchased certain Panini products at the show. I received about 20 silver redemption packs from Panini which had 2 cards per pack. Pretty cool cards of Football, Baseball, Basketball, Racing and Soccer. Not just base cards as I got serial numbered cards (numbered as low as /5) and jersey cards (got a Bellinger and Barry Bonds).
Overall great day all around as my daughter had a blast spending the day with just Daddy and she loves opening all the cards with me which makes me melt!

Carthage44 - Hopefully she'll stick with the hobby. She doesn't have to do baseball like daddy there is plenty of Non-Sport goodness around. When the time comes for her to inherit the collection she will be set for life. Um OK maybe she'll be able to afford rent for a month?
I have somewhere the first series of the Bugs and Company "Comic Ball" cards. when they first came out I collected them like mad to get a full set. I forget how many packs I ripped through I think I eventually got the full set that way, or maybe not until I got the 3 "ablums" that I got the full set. The 2nd Series I had an unopened box for a while but sold it for like $20 on Ebay some years back. I stopped there because I thought the whole concept was getting past silly. Wait that is what Looney Tunes is for. I may at sometime try to build the sets for Comic Ball 2 until whenever they stopped. Series 4?

I collect: Baseball, Football, Hockey, Mostly Vintage pre1980, My Homie teams - Washington/Baltimore Teams Senators (Twins, Rangers), Expos/Nationals, Redskins, Capitals, Bullets/Wizards - HOFers - Non-sport (mostly TV shows and movies). My Trade List is very much a work in progress CaptKirk42s Trading Card Blog Curly W Cards Strive For '65 YouTube klandersen42

From Cap above - "Carthage44 - Hopefully she'll stick with the hobby" ................ I couldn't pass up the hidden pun. =) Is it not great when your children take interest. My 17 yo daughter came with me to the big show in Edmonton in May and Jr loves his Pokemon cards now so it feels good to see it happen in front of you. Also have two nephews that collect, one does Magic and the other is into another card game that I can not name off hand, sold at Wal-Mart by the gallon LOL. So always have something to talk about.

I forgot to go. I was going to, but I forgot about it and went to Cincinnati for the weekend.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Cherish the daddy daughter times, before you know it they are gone, married, have children and live in another state. Mine moved to Colorado about a year and half ago, so that has been nice. But now they decided to go and teach English in China for a year :(
I still like the daddy/daughter dates. To bad she never liked cards or my son.

Trying to acquire one card for every for every set, insert, parralle, minor, euro, team issue, oddball etc sets produced for Hockey. Been an interesting project.

Are you saying your son also disliked cards, or are you saying your daughter disliked your son?
