Went with my wife to buy some stuff in preparation for hurricane Harvey and ran across foil packs of 2016 and 2017 football and baseball. Instead I bought two packs of 30 cards, "randomly" packed. They included about 5 1986 Topps and 4 1983 Donruss. Nothing major found, however, I was able to add 60 NM cards to my Trade List. Not bad for a little over 3-cents a card, especially since I tend to run low on baseball cards.

My sister gave me a couple random packs for christmas this year. I didn't find anything that I needed for my personal collection but they were fun to open and I added all of them to my trade list. I like the random packs.

I love those random packs from dollar stores. I have a Dollar Tree near me that has them from time to time. There was a Family Dollar in that same shopping center and since Dollar Tree bought Family Dollar it closed down recently. FD never had trading cards anyway. Sometimes I get a card or two more from those random packs, and once or twice I got 28 or 29 cards instead of the full 30.

The only time I got cards from there, I got 2 packs (5 and 6 cards) for a dollar. I got all '91 Topps from one and post 2000 from the other. From the later, I got a 2012 Patrick Corbin RC worth $5. Granted, it is a dupe, but still nice to have and possibly for someone else too.

Yeah, I enjoyed the thrill of opening a pack, which I've not done since '89. But since I don't know of a place where one can get 5-cent (or less) cards anymore I really was okay with simply adding to my trade list. I'm telling my kids about these for stocking stuffers at Christmas time.

Thanks, Billy. We're definitely praying for mercy in all this.

First good luck with the coming storm. Second I love these things. Unfortunately every Dollarama around me carries a version of 80 randoms for a couple bucks...except for the one here where I live in Georgetown Ontario. I make an excuse anytime I am near a Dollarama in the surrounding towns to have to stop and "find something." The ones here in Canada from Dollarama are usually a good mix so far, from the 80s/90s over produced to right up to 2017. Even found a couple inserts and higher numbered serialed cards, Walmart or Target Parallels etc... Great fun to open for loose change.

They are building a Dollar Tree one block from my house. I hope they carry cards. Not many options in my city. The 4th wall of the building went up today, so it won't be too much longer until it opens.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.
