There are several reasons for many people. One of the biggest reasons is the specific event might not make it to next years card sets. I have only bought 4 Topps Now cards because of the player and or event. So far just my homie Nationals of the 4 cards 2 I paid 5.99 and the other two were $7 something (one was like 7.50 and the other 7.75 or something). I understand that with some of the cards Topps Now sends a "bonus" card which apparently is the same event with a variant card that has a gold/yellow background and has a different card number. The sad thing is one of the cards I bought has a bonus variant available but I've only seen one copy of it on Ebay listing for $100 (well I think technically they have it for $99.something). I am eyeing a couple of more Topps Now cards on Ebay for under $10 of a couple of Nationals that were on other teams and this would be their first card as a National.
I collect: Baseball, Football, Hockey, Mostly Vintage pre1980, My Homie teams - Washington/Baltimore Teams Senators (Twins, Rangers), Expos/Nationals, Redskins, Capitals, Bullets/Wizards - HOFers - Non-sport (mostly TV shows and movies).
My Trade List is very much a work in progress
