I bought another card tonight via auction and they want almost $12 canadian to ship, I tried changing shipping address to avbruins's (thanks Mark!! =D) and again it will not let me. I get a bright red error message stating "One or more of the items below can't be purchased because the seller has not specified shipping costs to the location selected". It then asks me to switch the address back to the original or contact the seller and ask for an exemption. They are @$$holes plain and simple, making it more and more difficult for Canadians to make purchases from the USA. Disgusts me.

Robert “It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone. You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it stops. Today, October 2, a Sunday of rain and broken branches and leaf-clogged drains and slick streets, it stopped and summer was gone.” ― A. Bartlett Giamatti robertkimble.us/tradingcards

Ebay is evil - part 3
Looks like they are takinjg away the ability to add items directly to your user-defined lists.
For those of you who don't understand, allow me to explain. Ebay has had a Watch List forever. Back in the 1990s, it had a max of 20. (I used a notepad file of copied and pasted entries from the text-based list (not a lot of pictures back then). Then they expanded it to 200. However, some of us watch A LOT of items (especially when a new release comes out, and you're watching 3-5 listing per card of 5 players where one of which has 10 different inserts). So, they had a feature where instead of adding items to your watch list and maxing out at 200, you could create separate lists (like "McCarty", "Lapointe", and "Yzerman Base" & "Yzerman Inserts").Then each one of those could hold up to 200 items each. Been doing this for about 16 years now (give or take). I see one of these Herrnstein rookies (Stargell RC), and I add it to my "1963 Phillies" list. Certain sellers, I have lists for them. I sometimes add items to more than one list (if it "qualifies"). Now, it looks like they are removing the drop down and have replaced it with a simple button to add to Watch List (unless you're at the limit, then they are trying to force you to use collections, from what I read). I found a workaround, but the time involved stinks. (Add it to watch list, go into "All Lists", find those items, and add them to the other lists, then delete them from the Watch List.) Sometimes, I wish some websites would just leave well enough alone. Sorry for the rant, but it upsets me that they make these changes without any notice or anything. It's not the first time they wiped out some sort of feature I used to help me.

I'm really sorry, but it's just not worth it to ship to Canada right now. For some reason, it's easier to ship to China than it is to ship to Canada. I don't think that's Ebay's fault though.

I made the mistake of trading with a blue jays fan once....ouch their postage was a third of mine. 16 bucks to send 100 cards at most probably 50.

For both RoundtheDiamond and collect-a-set, I have made this point frequently about how shipping can be made affordable with Canadians. It is all in the packaging and the economising in the size of the trade. Either side of the border can ship 18-20 cards in a business PWE reinforced with cereal boxboard for standard international letter mail. If a larger trade is desired, 250-300 cards is the most economical.
Recently I received 2 trade packages in the mail. One had 20 cards and the other had just under 100 cards. Both paid $9.50 to ship all because of the packaging. One made his package as small as possible yet still well protected. I can imagine the 20 cards senderwent "Ouch" when he saw what the shipping charges were. But he could have saved over $7 had he shipped in a business PWE.
I have fequent repeat traders here on this site. Don't discourage others just because you haven't found a way to economise shipping costs.
As for the original post, some ebay sellers increase their profit through exagerated shipping charges. I quit ebay a few years ago due to this type of scamming.

I admit it, I was that guy. He did try to warn me before I shipped the package, but I didn't see the message before I mailed. I got his just as he described. My follow-on package was what he has recommended here and wouldn't you know, WAY cheaper. Lesson learned, thanks Sandy.

I would like someone to explain to me then why a single card to Canada is $12 and a single to anywhere in the USA is $3.50. Shorter distance to get to me from California than say Tampa. If you use Customs as a reason, then that just proves to me that Customs has become another government PITA that has gotten to bloated. I understand and accept that parcels and all manners of stuff need to be checked but a single card in a PWE, maybe a bubble mailer can not be that much work to get across the border. Ugh .......... Im probably just opening a can of worms by bringing it up. Sorry for the rant.

Here's a tip that might also help with shipping to Canada: don't declare a value if prompted. I can't confirm because I still don't understand international shipping but I think it's worth a shot
