How accurate do you think the $$ amount given by the site is?
I realize it's collector driven but say an amount was put in 5 years ago. Does it stay that amount unless someone updates it? I see on some other collector driven sites that I go to, they use a program that collects data from ebay or amazon and updates (only the sold data not the listed prices) periodically.
Also, is it possible to get a spot on the overview page for an amount for the complete set?
And is there a way to add prices in bulk, for let's say, all commons are $0.10?

In all reality what is "Accurate?" A card I'd pay 10 bucks for you wouldn't drop a dime on. I enter in values based off of beckett and Non sport update. If I went by ebay, well my star wars collection would be exactly worthless! lol.

What I would like is for the pricing column to be empty altogether as opposed to the default prices listed. I've gone through several times and deleted all the listed prices but they keep reappearing. I'm curious as well as to how these prices are generated. Beckett has rendered itself irrelevant, I'm ignorant to and have never used amazon, therefore leaving ebay and comc to cull a realistic value from, in my limited buying experience. Ebay itself isn't realistic either, as the asking prices are influenced by seller fees, shipping costs and occasionally taxes. Since brick and mortar shops are nearly extinct and shows or conventions are almost non-existant, where does a player collector such as myself turn to find reasonably priced singles? I've never flipped anything or collected for value, but I refuse to pay 99¢ + shipping for a goddamn '88 Donruss Harold Baines. Can anyone suggest somewhere online for cheap singles, other than the aforementioned sites?

your best bet is to
trade or buy
directly from
members. I'd sell
ya that Harold
baines for 10
cents... lol..
and I think I would
be cheating you!
but yeah..
shipping is a big
expense, especially
with tracking, so
you might need to
trade a lot of
cards for it to be
worth the
shipping. good
luck!

I record some auction sales and Beckett BV's. I ultimately don't use this site for pricing, although I do find auction sales useful in determining a card's value if it is high end or not priced due to scarcity.
I wouldn't mind seeing an pricing option on the menu to enter them in just like the "team" entering option. Perhaps you can enter a price and check off all the corresponding card numbers to add it to?

From what I've seen, I'd say the prices are about 50/50 accurate. There are quite a few that are accurate, however, there are at least an equal number that are completely ridiculous. I've seen sets that have a card of a player who played professionally for a whole 3 years and never started a single game be listed as $3.00, and just a few cards away, a hall of famer listed as $0.05. I believe you get points for reporting a price for a card, because I can't think of any other reason so many people would have for just reporting random numbers.
The prices listed on here are 100% generated by users submitting prices that they have come across, or just any old number that pops into their heads, so unfortunately, it is not accurate enough to give you a good idea of what your collection is really worth. Until the staff comes up with a way to regulate the pricing, or reaches some sort of agreement with an actual pricing company, the prices on here can be a good gauge sometimes, and other times, are completely worthless.
I have contacted them about how to get a price accurately reported, and their reply was that they use a median price, which means the most commonly reported price is what is used. So I checked some of the cards that I thought were the most off, and saw that there were over 30 reports of the wrong price (all but 1 by the same user), which would mean that I would have to report the correct price about 60-70 times. That would take a ridiculous amount of time, and that would be for just one card.

Ultimately, our cards are priceless, by which I mean the possibilities of their value are objectively unlimited. I couldn't care less what price someone is asking for a card-------unless I wish to buy it from them. This is inherently not a buy and sell driven site, it is about creating a visual structure of what is important to you about your collection. If anyone feels influenced to pursue any choices based on prices listed here (or anywhere), that is solely their decision. I regularly correct mistakes and misinformation here concerning actual physical attributes of some items, but I would hesitate to delete submitted values of anything since that is another collectors personal opinion, and not a subjective statement for all to heed.

I don't really look at the pricing info on this site. I am for leaving this site as a checklist, with no card values at all.

For those of you who, like myself, who find pricing to be the antithesis of true collecting, you can turn off the prices in your settings. The Database Admin added in this feature at my request over a year ago, and of all the great things they've done that is one of my favorites. It still shows up on each card's page, but it is no longer a blight on my Collection chart.
I no longer read Beckett because all it is these days is price lists with one or two articles. Worthless to me. I had been using it as a checklist for some time, but the Database is so much better for that.
The accuracy is way, way off. Look at 1994-95 Upper Deck NBA. Somebody went in and put in $25 on some common cards. If you could find somebody willing to list them for sale, they would go for about 5 cents...but they are so common most people don't find it worth their time to do that (Something I have found very frustrating as years of being a set collector!)

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards. I agree with you Billy. I don't use this site as a price guide. I collect because I like getting cards of my favorite players/teams. As for accuracy, I have gone through and put in Beckett values a couple of times. I put them in on cards I actually own. The only reason I was putting them in was for curiosities sake and because the site offered the option. I won't be doing it anymore (Becketts are expensive). I did notice that on the Dick Tracy Movie cards, one of the stickers in the subset is listed as having a price of $25. If that is the case, I will gladly sell that card for $25 right now. So what if that is the only one I have. I don't have a complete set anyway.
