And currently at $65 a box for 12 3-card packs, that's an accomplishment!
It looks like Beckett has it listed incorrectly, and however we got info put in here, followed suit. The packs seem to have been configured with a leather, a pennant, and an Open Field (with a couple inserts because it was 1996). Not sure which would be the 'base' set and which would be the parallel(s).
From the respective pages on Beckett:
The 1996 Playoff Contenders Pennants set was issued in one series totalling 100 cards. The three-card packs retail for $6.99 each, and contained one Pennant, one parallel Open Field Foil, and one parallel Leather card.
The 1996 Playoff Contenders Leather set was issued in one series totalling 100 cards. The three-card packs retail for $6.99 each, and contained one Leather, one parallel Pennant, and one parallel Open Field card.
They are basically describing the same packs in both. As shown in the picture above, it was one product: Playoff Contenders.
