End of Q3 report. :)

1 - Thanks to carthage44 who had those sets, he scanned them in. I was able to double-check the checklists, and so #1 is now done, although not all by me. (I did take that opportunity to sheet those sets and get them in the binder.)
2 - Done as of last update - but added several more and they are my only consistent update.
3 - Some more of those were done by others. I think there are still some I have that need to be added.
4 - The team lots were done in Jan. Add the Swami stuff to this item, and I'm still working on getting everything listed. Problem with this one is he did a lot of team set sales, so some of these boxes are full of team sets. I need to sort them out and just offer them.
5 - As a change of pace, recently started scanning in the non-standard-sized (or release) Yzerman cards. Even was able to add 2 to the mystery card forum, with zero luck in identifying them (I figured that). I love adding cards SNed out of 10 or 20. Even better - realizing that you have card 11/20 sitting here, but you already scanned in 19/20 (especially 19 for Yzerman). But yes, that means I have 10% of that print run. :) The 11/20 may be available soon.
6 - Haven't looked at those in months.
7 - Dug out the MiLB sets, but my weekends have been really tied up (we weren't home this weekend at all), so no chance to pull anything out.
8 - 11 - Same as before.
12 - Done as of last update.

Not a lot of progress on the list due to my actions. Honestly, I find scanning and uploading complete sets boring. What I was doing with adding the Yzerman scans is much more fun to me, but I can only do about 6-8 scans an hour. It's an excruciatingly slow process. I also completed a couple trades and got a couple more transactions in progress. I'm not unhappy with my progress, but realize it could be going faster. But I'm having fun, and that's what this is supposed to be about.

I had not written down my goals in this thread, but i had jotted them down in my long term memory.

Get to 700 total 2015 Topps A&G 10th Anniversary Buybacks (mini and full sized) - Just completed yesterday thanks to COMC but always looking to trade for more and setting a goal of 1000 total for 2019

Get to 200 completed trades on TCDB - blew well past that and currently stand at 235 and will easily get to 250+ by the end of the year

PIF to more of my friends and add bonus cards when available in trades - getting better at this and with the new friends address feature more PIFs will be in the future as i try to reduce the number of cards sitting in boxes waiting to be adopted.

Add missing scans to TCDB from cards in my collection - my biggest failure this year, but hopefully can squeeze some in before time runs out.

For my "Strive For '65" set building goal to complete the 1965 Topps Baseball set.Which technically I've been building all my life, but started in earnest in early 2014 to try to complete by Opening Day April 2015 the 50th Anniversary of the Set. OOPS. Didn't happen. When the "quest" started I only had 94 of the 598 cards in the set (600 if you are going for the variations of two checklist cards which I am doing and already have both versions and all the checklist cards (most unmarked there might be one or two with marks in my collection not sure)) that was not very much of the set. I'm not being too picky about condition, but I am avoiding cards with major paper loss.

This year I have only added 15 cards to the set. Now the current count is 278/598 or 280/600 giving me 46.8% of the set done. So 20 more cards to reach 50% can I do that by the end of this year? I still have a ton of the big super starts to get like many of the Yankees (Mantle, Marris). 

Team Sets I know I have the Senators complete,I don't thknk I have any other teams complete. I still need at least half of the team cards. Sub-sets I have the checklists (which are part of the set, they used to number them and include them in the set) and the 1964 World Series subset. There has been a little help from some bloggers in this effort but not as much as I had hoped, (a lot of the "help" was through purchases not trades or gifts) and not as much as some others seem to get in a very short period of time. 3 years with very little help from others is not a short period of time. 

it seems that some bloggers can start a goal of completing the 1952 Topps Baseball set starting with only a dozen cards or so and then BAM 6-9 months later thanks to other bloggers they have the set completed in a very high quality condition.

If this is a thing, to update progres, here is mine.

1. Big zero.  I didn't yet know the set would be hobby exclusive, and the only shop within a reasonable drive didn't carry them.

2. Nope.  Lost interest in this one.

3. Does a '59 Boyer count?  I actually spent over $10 on at least three different cards.  One was a league leader that included Musial. Can't remember if any were $20 though, but does it matter?

4. Yeah that ballerina card, which at the time was the cheapest available 19C card on ebay in reasonably good condition. I have no idea where that card went.  Havent seen it in months.

5.  Made good progress on this one.  Honestly, it was that, or quit collecting altogether.  It was actually my mom who convinced me to get back in the hobby and just get rid of a bunch of cards, after I had quit.

6. Yes.

7. Good progress on this one, but I didnt buy enough boxes.

8. Not even close.

9. Nope, but I still picked up some cool stuff from misc sports in older Olympic sets, and also added some cool inserts from sports I dont collect, like racing and tennis.

I guess this is a thing now...

1. Not the entire set, but maybe one box.

2. I’m guilty of doing this yearly.

3. Yes. My two wants are a ‘57 Eddie Matthews and Rusty Staub’s Colt 45’s RC.

4. Never thought about doing that one.

5. Ditto.

6. I’d also need a tennis and a golf card.

7. I just use the 800-count boxes. Personal preference.

8. Not even close to close.

9. I’m all for getting a cool curling insert.

So I too shall drink the kool-aide. Had some big life changes over the past year so buying has reduced big time- forced me to rethink a lot, especially if I should sell everything or not. Has a couple store owners interested but never did lead to anything.

C. Do the same with the 2018 set

D. Finish 2004 SPX football (only need a few more)

Update: still looking for a couple left to complete at a good price, also got up for sale as incomplete

E. Get closer to finishing the 2016 Panini Contenders (need about 55 or so on the Rookie Autos)

Update: still  working on the rookie auto’s- 1 card at a time, they are getting $$ now

F. Crack my piggy bank for the 2014 Immacualte Moments Tom Brady to finish that insert

G. Try to pick up a few vintage RC's (baseball)- i was going to build sets starting with the 1965 season, but got diverted so may just do singles of certain HOF'ers and Phillies

H. Along the way, at least try to work towards Eli's rookie year

Update: one card at time. Getting  hard to find certain cards, but my SN1 of xxx has increased big time!

And I'll do an update, but there'll probably be one more in January. 

1. Complete the 2018 Topps base set - DONE

2. Complete (minus short prints) the 2018 Topps Gypsy Queen set - DONE

3. Add to my T207 Cubs team set (have three, need seven) - ADDED TWO

4. Get one T205 American League card - DONE

5. Add significantly to my 1969 and 1968 Topps sets - DONE, WILL FINISH '69 IN 2019, I THINK

6. Get some other random vintage cards, probably from the 1950s and 1960s, just for fun - DONE

7. Maybe add a few 1971 Topps coins - TONS; COULD FINISH THE SET THIS YEAR, DIDN'T EXPECT THAT

8. Get a T201 Mecca Double Folder of Mordecai Brown/Solly Hofman - DONE, AND DANG HAPPY ABOUT IT

9. Get any baseball card from the 19th century - NOPE; AND UNLIKELY, BUT THAT'S OK. 

10. Mostly, I hope to enjoy collecting as much as I did in 2017, which was a whole lot, at least in part due to this site. - DONE

11. I added the goal of staying in the top 200 baseball card collections, but didn't really care about it. Didn't manage that, but Admin expanded the list, so I remain in the top 250.

Year end tally of my goals, hit one, miseed one, got a partial on the third...
 

1) Nailed it - Finished with 47,601!

2) Big swing and a miss - Got rid of marginally more cards than I recevied this years

3) Partial credit - Added several thousand scans here this year (of the 13,794 I have inventoried here only 416 missing scans, mostly stamps and other card with blank backs).
