No question about that OCHawkeye. I realize that the 1960 is his true rookie card, and would be the more expensive card.

.....and then there is the case of Topps Traded, Fleer Updates and Donruss Rookies where the player is featured for the 1st time but appears the following year as a RC.

YAY! We are finally going to get into the XRC descriptions. I was wondering when that would come up in here.

Yeah, what about that, the XRC descrption? So what is the true Cal Ripken Jr. TOPPS rookie card? The 82' base multi-player card or the 82' Topps Traded card? Didn't the base come out first, therefore making it his first Topps issue?

Fun. We get to discuss Beckett's made up XRC.
In the case of Ripken, the 82 Topps card from the base set is his RC. The Traded card is not, nor is it an XRC.
Think 1986 Topps Traded Barry Bonds. No other MLB cards before that. First card in a base set was 1987. The 1987 Bonds cards are listed as RCs, while the 1986 Topps Traded is an XRC, simple because of the method that the Topps Traded sets were distributed. (There are several other examples, and earlier, but the Bonds one was the first that I could think of.)

Dan, you're maybe referring to Michael Jordan??

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

David, wasn't going to go there with the basketball stuff as I have a little bit too much connection there.
