A way to tell if something new has been added to your favorite player's listing (or team) is to have everything on the wantlist. When you look through and see something NOT in pink you know it's been added since you last checked. It is a little cumbersome but it is effective. Auto-adding everything to the wantlist from your favorite player or team is a good idea. I'd set it up for Elton Brand if it was available.

Not without a picture of the player.  I can't get into the stuff that is just straight swatch or auto without the photo.  Even some of the 1/1 historic cut autos in 2017 Topps Transcendent had no photo.

That is why 1 of 1s are a waste of chasing IMO ........... if they fall into my lap so be it. I managed to snag one this year for under $50 and its an AU version. But all in all I feel the same us you David. Its simple nonsense.

How do you know / see what the offer amount was ?

Normally if it is in my watch list and an offer is accepted, it will then go to the bottom and say "Out of Stock" or something like that. If you then click on it to view it most will say "Offer accepted - Sold for $XX.XX dollars" somewhere on the screen, can not recall exactly but it lets you know for future reference. Hope that helps a little bit.
