I use a pool noodle. You can buy one for under $3 and easily cut them to size.

Lots of good ideas that I hadn't considered.

I got a box of BCW monster pads for super cheap from a card shop on Ebay. I wouldn't use anything else. I mean, they are specifically designed to keep your cards secure in boxes so I don't think there is a better option. And yeah, they are a little pricey on the BCW website considering they are just foam, but that is why I got them on Ebay instead for a few bucks.

That's what I have now, but like you said, they're kinda pricey, and I'd like to have some thinner sizes to use.

A couple of the local card shops save me the blank inserts that they get from packs when they do breaks. I will tape a bunch of them together to seperate things out.

Chew the bubble gum from the packs, then shove a wad of it in the box.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Those "savers" aren't much use for anything else. I use them as title cards in the monster box I keep my football trade fodder for a team trading group I belong to. (https://captkirk42.blogspot.com/2017/08/trying-to-make-things-right-and.html)

Not to stray too far off topic, but why does everyone hate card savers so much? I don't use them myself, but there often seems to be a lot of hate towards those things.
