Got a call from a neighbor who was in the Quakertown PA, area. She said she was at the Goodwill store there and they had "these long white boxes" filled with cards for $4 or $5 dollars. She wanted to know if it was a good deal. She wanted to surprise her boyfriend. Told her it was worth a shot but they may be cherry-picked. The point I'd like to make is that is what you do with excess cards, donate them to a charity who can make some cash off them. Just don't be a jerk and set them on fire. It's called being a good person. No excuses.

LOL, me thinks somebody is what the kids call "throwing some shade".
I agree 100% though, and even if the boxes are cherry picked, its still fun to go through and you might find something someone else missed. Got some nice Danny Ainge baseball cards that way.

We can't take them with us when we're gone, and our kids certainly aren't going to worship our collections.

I agree about 18 years ago or so i went into my thrift store actually shopping for clothes for school and where they have the household items and toys i saw about i think 4 or 5 monster boxes for $40 which is still cheap if you ask me lol i would NEVER burn my cards i will say this when i a starter back in 98 i HAD to burn a box of cards because they were destroyed by water otherwise i have accumulated about 2 million cards in the 20 years of collecting (just a guess)

Well, it looks like the other forum about promoting card collecting with the youth was just censored.

That's okay. Kneeling is apparently still an approved form of protest in this country. Freedom of speech only seems to apply if you're in the majority.

Never donated any cards to Goodwill, but they did get a bunch of furniture, televisions, stereos, clothes, and sporting goods equipment.
